First of all I want to say that my argument certainly has biased views as I clearly mentioned in the beginning that this thread I was trying to create a thread that is suppose to be a "genuine analysis of why fans hate/respect Luongo". Im pretty sure I mentioned to enter your OPINIONS. Second of all a lot of what I said is obviously a mixture of opinions and facts of why I came to think that way. Clearly opinion is biased. This is not an article of true facts of what Luongo is like, but an article of why Luongo is Hated. It was originally meant as a thread but got moved here. And all I did was give the first entry of this supposed thread which was voice my opinion with legitimate reasons in why I ->HATE<-/respect Luongo not pure negative facts of what Luongo is like. PLEASE GET THIS STRAIGHT I AM JUST GIVING MY REASONS AS TO WHY I HATE LUONGO AND NOT FACTS ABOUT LUONGO THAT I CLAIM TO BE TRUE.
You can certainly disagree with what I say and you can definitely argue against some of those reasons I mentioned which you have earlier. And I'm saying I'm not convinced by your reasons.
I'm sorry but I don't get what we have to get all excited about here.
Your opinions are essentially a bunch of freudian insights into Luongo's mind and actions. Something you have absolutely no authority to judge on.
So essentially you hate Luongo for everything except his goaltending.
Cool. Again, analyzing reasons to hate your goaltender is pathetic. Just pathetic. Why not just respect the guy that brought our franchise out of the Alex Auld/Dan Cloutier dark ages?

I am not judging him cuz I have no right to. But just thought I share my opinion as to why I dislike him. Maybe hate is too strong of a word. I don't literally "HATE" him that I want him to die. I just dislike his work ethic. Which I have to say it is not only my judgement. You might think I am biased but I know several other people who share some of my opinions. And some of them have personally met Luongo before.
I don't know what to say about your last statement. I mentioned in the title to voice opinions as to why we hate/respect Luongo. I started one side of that of that voice. Again all I want is to see what people actually think of him. If they respect him give reasons. If they hate him give reasons its as simple as that. I don't know why your being offended...I would atleast think people would look at what I wrote in a nuetral perspective and think about it not be biased and pissed off cuz it diagrees with what they think
This has to be a parody because the one thing you can't criticize Luongo for is his work ethic. He's infamous for being one of the hardest working guys in hockey.
would add most of those who question Luongos paly have not said hes lazy does not work hard or is a terrible human being simply put he misses some easy saves that kill a team at times , and others they see an unbeatable goalie its the jekyll/hyde thaing that makes fans comment i think.
While the other one is open perhaps we can copy the post we intend to quote, and simply reply to it in this thread. Would make the transition quite nice.
Flack listed reasons why he hates Luongo. Here's a reason I like him: he wants to win so bad and works so hard to get better. His hard work in practice and trying to get better really sets an example for others to follow, regardless of how you think he may have handled the captaincy, as he is still a leader in his own right.
Maybe sometimes he's a little misguided with his comments and can rub people the wrong way in his interviews (which are then subject to all sorts of expert psychological opinions ) but I believe that in his heart he genuinely has the will to win and to succeed.
The only issue is that - as someone pointed out before in the previous Luongo thread - he has that superstar mentality where he wants to be 'the guy' who the team relies on for success, and he's likely never felt anything but that way ever since his junior days. Being on the Canucks as they are now - a very good team who no longer needs their goalie to be fantastic every night - he's had to adjust to that role change, and to me once he does he'll be so much better for it.
That, and no longer working with Allaire in offseasons because honestly every year he comes back from summer training with the guy and looks way off his game.
One final note I want to make is that even though people have knocked him for being mentally weak, it's not like the team in front of him doesn't seem that way either at times. Running around with heads cut off like we did in that Minny game - with Schneider in net - virtually proved that it's not solely the goalie's problem, it's the team. Sometimes we give up a goal and everyone starts panicking. Doesn't matter who panics first because both skaters and goalie do it, and the game plan goes to hell. It's the responsibility of both components to get it together and pick up our team game because what one does always affects the other. It's like chicken or the egg... both born of each other, and it goes both ways. Unless you mention amphibians who came first.

With Luongo it's been progressive hating.
First it was his attitude when he let in a goal. Then the same thing but for a different reason.
Then it was his contract. Then it was his attitude in the media.
Then it was his big-game play. Then it was his over-all playoff performance.
Hard to keep up with all the changing standards really.
Hey, if Ryan Miller can fake a concussion (if you don't believe me just ask Dr. Lucic), then surely Luongo can fake an upper body injury so he can sit on the couch for a few days.
