So how bout that Darche?

1 goal, 16 gp, -2, playing terrible yet rarely benched. Why? What is Martin's obsession with this guy? Why is there no room for a tough guy, yet there's room for this plug?

He has a goal, #11 is still looking for one

As for the leaving aside, it's easier for Martin to bench and leave the rookies aside, he has done that during his hole career

3:19 on the PP yesterday.

He's important to the team as a 12th or 13th forward because of his leadership and versatility but not because of his skills.

Oh it's just bad luck ... according to my numbers, he should have 3.2 goals by now

It's the same bad luck that is preventing Gomez from reaching his 50-60 points this year.

I don't know if it's funny or sad but I was on TSN earlier this morning and he is on pace for 0g and 9a this season!

There's no obsession with Darche from JM. The only regular who has less TOI per game than Darche is Nokelainen. He was probably used a bit more yesterday because of the injuries.

It's crazy when you think about it but Scott Gomez may never again score an NHL goal! Really, I'd wager money that Darche will score more goals than Gomez this year, if JM still obsesses with Darche on the PP!

To be fair here, bench him in favor of who?

The team doesn't have a spare healthy forwards most nights and I don't see anyone in Hamilton who would do better.

Not sure why he still ends up on the PP though, but at this point, I again question who else. With Kostitsyn and Cammy hurt, they're again running out of bodies.

Right now he has his place in the line-up. But with a complete line-up (with White, Cammalleri, Kostitsyn), he is the odd man out, no doubt in my mind !

His last name starts with E and ends in ller. He's not an offensive beast as far as the stats show, but he'd be a better player on the PP than Darches

I respect what he did last year on the PP, but this year he's done diddly squat. Time to move on, find other solutions. Yet he is still being used regularly on the powerplay.

No obsession you say?

Still appropriate.

I liked what he brought last night (should keep things simple on breakaways though).

He wasn't used at all against Nashville and his PP time is minimal. Yesterday Cammy and Akost weren't there you have to use someone. I wouldn't use him at all on the powerplay myself. But calling it an obsession is a stretch.

Last year's Darche was a surprise, but not a performance I was expecting to see repeated. I wish Martin would stop using him so much on the PP. I understand we have injury issues and stuff, but still. It's just not working anymore.

But what do I know? It's easy to second guess every decision made by the GM and coaches.

Double ugh..

I still think PG should've claimed Eric Nystrom off re-entry waivers to play in the bottom 6.. He's probably better than any of the 5 players you listed above and he was free for the taking.

I love it when the Martin defenders are forced to become Darche defenders.

Lars Eller disagrees with you.

Darche is the perfect example of what's wrong with this team. Last year he was a reliable third liner. This year he's playing terribly, slow soft and unable to get shots, much less scoring chances, looks to have lost a step, etc. So of course he's been promoted.

Darche's "move" on that mini-breakaway last night was pathetic.

I dont mind him as a 13th forward, but with all the injuries he's been given increased responsibilities that he simply cannot meet.

One thing is for certain...take him off the PP!
