I was too distracted too watch last game, but generally we present two bodies on the near wall and a guy going through the center. That should give us two options every time to breakout. Until we get forechecked to hell and get pinned in our own zone with no faceoff wins.

Way too many times the D was presented with no good pass options and they threw it off the boards, or try to go through someone only to have it stay in the zone. I think we're getting a little to anxious to exit the zone lately. Normally if the pass wasn't there they would curl back and go D to D waiting for the forwards to come back an reset. The Boston forecheck was preventing that, but there should still be a short pass to be had.
Exactly. There's so much that our blueline can do. We all know that our d-core is beyond mediocre at moving the puck so our forwards have to help out alot more by being as close to them as possible and not jump the breakout, meaning they have to stay at the circles and wait for a pass instead of skating at the blueline for a "bomb" pass by guys that can't even make a tape to tape pass over 5 feet.

The blame should be given to our blueline as much as our wingers. Help them out by being a easy target, not by jumping the breakout.

wonder if kovalchuk plays tonight. for some reason i have my doubts but we'll see. and if he goes, does he get slotted in with parise and henrique again and who gets scratched? gotta assume zharkov would prolly come out, but might be more sensible to have janssen sit this one out unless you want some insurance for that duster kaleta.

I think Zharkov is going to sit. Jannsen got another game atleast when he decked Chara.

Aight let's go devils! Still have minimal confidence in this team against better squads but eh

The Bruins were good about jamming up the wall, and jumping the pass attempt to the man going through the centre. That was one reason why we kept turning it over on the breakout.

Per Sabres' beat writer John Vogl's twitter, Myers returns to the lineup, Weber remains, and Gragnani scratched. Sorry to disappoint.

Gragnani and Sekera.
He wasn't good against Winnipeg or Boston, but he's definitely been, at worst, their second best defenseman this season.

Well, that`s what matters the most at this point.

Good luck.

Teddy a healthy scratch and the arguably best line over the past couple games (carter-teddy-clarkson) is broken up? Def not a fan.....

Backchecking and creating tons of chances.

I guess we'll see how effective that third line is tonight without him, and we'll see if Palmieri's forecheck and hitting really made a difference for Parise and Henrique.

He had some really good shifts last night. I guess i understand it though. Palmieri had a good game last night so he's getting rewarded. I just don't think it's right for mattias's development to be sitting. Maybe he should go to the AHL for a little until he improves his game defensively. But to me he really makes that 3rd line go with his all out hustle and determination.

Did you not watch the last two games?

He was easily one of our best players last night and we don't win the other night without his effort on the second goal.

I saw this coming anyways because DeBoer doesn't seem too crazy about him.

To be even more fair, he was dazzling puckhandling up and down the side boards, but he failed to do anything that resembled the creation of a scoring chance.

I vividly remember a scoring chance for him last night.

thats because his linemates just watched him rather than try to move around and get open

come on. you cant rationalize sitting Tedenby over Janssen or Zharkov, who will only play 4-5 minutes anyways

Not a fan of that line. I'm happy IK is coming back but I taught the Parise/Kovalchuk experiment was over and done with. Oh well...

I don't get it. He played real well defensively yesterday and that 3rd line has been doing alot of damage as of late. I guess Palmieri wasn't a option since he scored twice yesterday and Clarkson isn't going anywhere. I personnaly would've sat Janssen over Tedenby, giving us a speedy 4th line with Tedenby-Mills-Zharkov.

For a team as small and not all that physical in Buffalo, I'm actually surprised that Tedenby is the odd man out over Cam.
