I tend to believe what Darren Dreger says, so I believe it's true. If he got this offer and turned it down it could be to go to another team and say this is the offer i have, what can you do to beat it. It was probably Nashville offering Lebda and a 2nd to get him back.
Yes your goaltending has been brutal, but it doesn't help when the defense constantly hangs them out to dry. How many 2on1's and break away's per game does TO's D allow, I'll bet you their among the league leaders in that department. Then TO has the worst PK in the league, which is the major problem. Yes Colby Armstrong will improve that stat when he gets back, but it takes more then one man to PK.
It's a product of the coaching there also. They want the D jumping in which attributes to odd-man rushes. Whether or not they want a forward dropping back, I'm not sure...sure doesn't look like it.
The best PKer is the goalie. Reimer back should improve the numbers. I believe they were at least middle of the pack when Reimer was in net..thought I heard that in the last game.
I'm a bruins fan, I would give T.O a second for Franson. I would keep him as our 7th. We normally have injurys to our back end and think we're atleast a year away from our young guns making the jump. I was thinking a third earlier this year but a second would be fine.
Right now Franson's value is almost entirely based on his play in Nashville. The longer he sits in the press box, the more people will forget about what he did there and start asking what he isn't doing now to push his way onto the leafs.
Sure they can keep him for backup, but then they are neglecting their other needs. I do agree that nuts wasn't the right word. I just think he could also use his depth to help his injury problems up front.
I also find it funny how he's trying to use the media, in typical Burkian fashion, to negotiate a bigger return. He's the king of playing the media like a fiddle.
Do you actually believe that?
If so how could that possibly work. Other than gm's having so little self-confidence that they seek the approval of numbskull reporters to guide them. These guys talk to eachother whenever they want, why take the word of a reporter for anything when you can just the call the man himself. Burke likes the spotlight and uses the media for that purpose shamelessly but as far as using them to increase player value, not bloody likely. The media just doesn't pack much punch with those at the top of the industry, only with some readers who don't follow stories closely enough to form thier own opinions.
I'd rather hold onto Franson. If this season is any indication, were going to have a season riddled with injuries. At some point it could be one of our defense that goes down. Franson can than step in for us.
Sounds like the Leafs bluffing and trying to raise his value.

I would love to see Franson on the Jets, he would be a got fit here with all the other former Vancouver Giants we have on our roster. I know it wasn't us that made the offer though, as Chevy would be imprudent to trade draft picks on a team that needs to amass some...I would trade Cormier or Wheeler however for Franson...
Probably Burke just trying to light a fire under his players...although Calgary could use a defenseman bad enough to make that trade....
Toronto could take on a 2M player and send him to the minors.
We could take a $5m player and send him directly the minors so what does "$2m" matter(Not interested in Brule BTW).
7 months ago(give or take) Franson was look upon as Weber-lite who's value was a hell of a lot higher than it is today. So what? Did he forget how to play hockey over the summer? Or is the fact he's wearing a Blue and white sweater now. He's played 4 regular season games since his last playoff game for Nashville. He's needs to be given a better look here in Toronto, And there's no point IMO trading him now for scraps.
