Bernstein - member of Professional Hockey Writers Association, votes for all major awards like Hart and Norris because of it and is on radio in Canada weekly in Montreal and now TFP show on XM/Sirius. Seems pretty mainstream to me not like Kings of Hockey. LOL
Surly and Scribe are funny at least. Even if their sources are a bit...well, off.
The Royal Half is funny. Surly and Scribe, not so much.
I actually like Mayors Manor if you are looking for humor. The guy is really dry on his podcasts and almost a little stiff to listen to but his articles and questions are really funny and give some fun insight to the Kings locker room.
I don't buy it but for the purpose of the thread, I'll bite. If the Kings can trade JJ and Bernier for a signed Parise you do it. Voynov can fill a good deal of Jack's shoes assuming he can stay healthy. The Kings will have to go all in on Quick next year when he needs a contract and in doing so Bernier will not be able to stick around with a raise the following year.
And what happens to the "ass tattoo's", core, team culture, and learning to play hard for each other chatter while we're trading away JJ and Brown? Do we become just another "fill in the blank" jackpot team?
I say we let this team, this core group of players go as far as they can.... they've earned the right to stay together and prove what they can do. Especially since Parise is up for grabs this summer.
Now, don't get me wrong. I am not opposed to improvement. Or Parise. But trading away the likes of Brown and Johnson for a free agent to be has no appeal right now. With a different package? Sure, you've got to look at it.
It is....it would be the tight the next couple years (though I expect the cap to jump next year)...but thanks to so many of the Kings having long term deals, it would get easier with time.

Sabres fan here. They mentioned twice during the Sabres/Devs broadcast tonight that there was a large contingent of Kings representatives in attendance. Who knows, maybe they just came down from Toronto and the GM meetings for an NHL game, but it seems like there may be some smoke here.

I suppose Bernier, Stoll, Penner & AMart would not be enough to get Parise, but that would be my offer. You never know.
Why on Earth would NJ (or anyone else) want Penner and Stoll in any trade? Other teams have NHL scouts, they have seen just how awful these two are, and at a combined salary of almost $8 million. The Kings couldn't give these guys away if they wanted. We are stuck letting these guys play out their awful, bloated contracts and just letting them walk next season.
If the Kings and Devils are making a trade it's probably not for Parise, the Kings don't have the elite young player they would be able to move to get Parise, they already cashed in that chip for Richards.
