Speculation for a pending UFA is certainly fun and we have
I think it is funny that most Kings fans thought Johnson would be the player the Kings would have trouble signing long term and Doughty would sign a nice home-town discounted contract. Didn't happen that way in real life.
I think JJ had to, because he know he was having a career year at the beginning of last season and he had to cash in while he had some leverage.
But going back to Parise, there's definitely no way that people know what's going to happen. Both sides are ridiculous to think they're right, really. He's far from untradable, as seen with the contending Stars looking to dump Richards last season. Then again it was more widely known that he was going to leave Dallas. But Parise is still far from joining the Kings, because if the Devils are going to trade him, they'll do so on the basis of asking for a King's ransom, no pun intended. I find it funny how some people are so definite on both sides, because he's either going to sign well before July 1st, be traded, or become a free agent and leave. We just don't know, hints the theme of this thread: rumor speculation. Nothing more and nothing less.
Lamoriello isn't going to trade Parise, even if he remains unsigned as a free agent around the trade deadline. He's going to continue to try to re-sign him, just as they attempted to do with Scott Niedermayer when he became a UFA.
It could be a minor swap that involves one of LA's young defenseman for one of New Jersey's young forwards. For example, Alec Martinez and a pick for Nick Palmieri who could fill LA's 3rd line RW position.

This.
If ANYTHING happens...ANYTHING...it's going to be the bolded part. my BR article said this EXACT thing.
You're swapping defensive depth, which the Kings have...for forward depth...which we do not have. Trade from strength to fill a weakness. Martinez, Hickey, Muzzin...they better be a touch worried...particularly with Deslauirers and Forbort coming AND Voynov playing out of his mind.
I dont know why people include stoll in trade proposals. You can argue he is having somewhat of a slow start but he is too valuable in the 3c spot to be traded.
The Kings already made their big splash in getting Richards. DL will not trade for Parise unless he is signed long term to a contract that fits the Kings budget and LL will not trade Parise if he gets him to sign a contract. Just not happening even though it all makes sense in theory. If for some reason Parise is available at the trade deadline, I cant see DL giving up enough to get him unless LL will take some 1st rounders and a guy like hickey and/or martinez.
If Parise is ever a King its most likely through free agency this summer. Fact is, Kings have a lot of salary coming off the books this summer which give them all the flexibility they could ever ask for. They might make a depth trade at the deadline but thats about it. They will wait till summer to make another big move if they choose to. They need to see how current players such as voynov, lokitonov, martinez, parse, and maybe even toffoli finish out the season. Its just too early to do anything major.

It's not slow start, that's just his expected pace and production. Production of goals and penalties. Also naming this line "shutdown line" like it was heard at the beginning of the season is just laughable. Our lines are 1a, 1b, "Energy line A" and "Energy line B" - a.k.a. "Top two lines can't play 60 minutes, at least not in regular season" lines.

If we need a shutdown guy, Pahlsson is almost certainly available. He's great defensively, can shutdown opposing forwards, win face offs and is good along the boards. He'd be a nice addition to the bottom six and a big upgrade over Lewis.
I don't see the Blue Jackets often though, so I'm not sure if his level of play is what is once was.
So the Kings have a scout at another Devils game tonight, that's the third consecutive game Kings scouts have been spotted at a Devils game. Something must be brewing if they're monitoring them this closely...

Bottom Six help, Has to be an A-Mart for Bottom Six help. The Kings need help badly on that Bottom six.

Go big or go home I say.
Acquiring a 3rd liner to a team with plenty of 3rd liners is not good asset management.
The same Kings scout who was at the NJ/BOS game the other day was dispatched to the NJ/TB game tonight. That tells you the Kings are very interested in someone (Parise, Parise).
I was also told by another source (not named Eklund) that it could be a three way deal between the Kings, Toronto and NJ. Lou, Burke and Lombardi are all friends and it's highly likely they all hung out at Tim Horton's during the recent GM meetings. Couple that with NJ and the Kings having an overabundance of D-men that Toronto now needs with the long term injury to Komisarek, and we could be looking at a 3-team deal (which Lombardi does like to do).
I've been told that Clifford (nooooo!), Stoll, Greene, Martinez and the 1st round pick are in play. It makes sense given the Kings have too many centermen and can afford to part with D-men with the emergence of Voynov and the maturity of Muzzin (and healthy scratch Drewiske).
I can't believe for a second Greene will be traded. Muzzin? The guy in the AHL? Yeah, okay, Barry. Eklund said the same thing about the trade. They must have some of the same reporters. Which ya know, is good for nothing.

Yeah, I can believe Stoll, Amart and even Clifford but I doubt DL will be trading Greene.

I understand that the Kings need to do something with their prospects. I'm not even sure if Muzzin is ready for the NHL. It wouldn't be wise to put him on the team right now unless he is playing with a guy like Mitchell, Greene or Scuderi. But, for awhile, not a couple games.
And the biggest thing, I don't see the Devils trading Parise. There might be a small chance they might dangle him come playoff time if the Devils aren't in it. But, I don't see anything serious. Nothing wrong with talking about it, but lets be serious and say it's not going to happen.
Hotstove just mentioned Cbus looked at Bernier, then mentioned 2 different teams have asked for Johanson but it wasn't clear if it was the Kings asking.
As for the Barry post...not sure the Leafs need D....have 7 NHL level defencemen atm (Franson has been sitting) and have Gardinar who is very similar to AMart.
What would you give for Parise (realistically), if he comes without an extension?
I'm hesitant to really give anything up for him. Not that he wouldn't be worth it, but come July and the Kings don't have a deal with him and his butthole of an agent, there is a chance he wouldn't sign. I don't think Dean would hardball him or anything. It just wouldn't be a good place to be in.
