that was 11cm at 7:30 this morning...
add another 10-15cm all day and looking at 25+ cm today...I'm looking forward to going home and shoveling heavy wet snow!

Left home at 8:50, got to the university at 12:30.

Michael Nylander's wife was right.

I went and shoveled snow for my parents since they're definitely not capable of dealing with this kind of snow. It was easily approaching a foot. I also shoveled their neighbors walk, by the time I finished there as already about 2-3cm on the part that I started on. Just brutal out there. And it's heavy snow, sticking to everything, slippery under your feet. Basically a nightmare snow fall.

Just spent a couple of hours dealing with the snow. The local ERs better be ready for a lot of wrenched backs and heart attacks. I know that the driving is treacherous, but everybody needs to be careful after they get home as well.

Has anyone ever had worse commuting conditions than they had this morning? Granted I've only been back living in Edmonton for a little over two years, but today was absolutely insane. That's a ridiculous amount of snow out there.

And now I really want to go magic carpeting. Who's in?!

Before the henday opened up I had a 4 hour home ride at least once every couple months. That was in the summer too.

We've been pretty lucky the past bunch of years, have had mild october and novembers.

In the early 80's when I was in University a dump like this happened and it was horrendous. I consciously waited out the "rush hour" traffic, did some studying(blondes, brunettes) after classes, and headed home at 8pm thinking I'd miss the drive home crowd.
Driving to the west end past Quesnell cars were basically falling off the freeway on either side. The road Camber was causing lanes of traffic to collide into each other with the cars not even in gear. From a standstill, you'd just start slipping sideways. It was unreal. Took me 2hrs to get home in whats maybe a 12K distance. Should've walked that day..

I had enough sense to stay home today.

Not too bad imo. Don't know what it's like east of Gateway Blvd but heading west it looked pretty clean. I came in from the west end this afternoon around 4 and it was okay. Heard Henday was terrible though.

Yup. Got up this morning and there wasn't even a flake of snow in the air. Hopped in the shower, and by the time I was out it was a damned blizzard. 3 hours later and well...you guys know the rest.

Weird day. Our office ended up shutting the doors around 2:00, our boss wanted to give us the chance to head home safely without battling rush hour traffic. Was a very nice gesture!

Everyone stay safe for tomorrow morning's commute, because I think roads will still be far from perfect.
