While here in Vancouver people ***** and whine when the temperature drops down to 0c.
I love a little bit of cold weather, it resembles winter and makes the outdoor rinks great to skate on. It was -32 on Sunday evening with the wind chill and me a few buddies went to the local rink and laced em up. Felt great!
Where I work there are still several people who don't plug their car in. When I tell them to plug in they tell me they don't have too, their car is new or they tell me it always starts no matter how cold.
All are reasonable statements.
It might be better for the car but it's not necessary.
I agree. If this was the beginning of January, it would be a bit depressing, but we're in the homestretch now. With the days lengthening appreciably, this stuff might all be gone in about 3 weeks.
We have. But its been my experience with the forecasts that how they interpret amounts is mysterious. For instance the blizzard yesterday was quoted at 1cm. It was a couple inches by my take.
It almost always seems that when the forecast is saying amounts in cm's you may as well assume inches.
In anycase enough to wreak havoc with driving conditions and it always being dangerous when people forget how to winter drive.

Gone? Snow in my back yard has been as rare as the abominable snowman. Somehow I sense I shouldn't be tempting fate with that but if it was any warmer I'd be cutting grass..
Its a good thing this is "light snow". I'd hate to see a 24hr blizzard..
I'd start shoveling the snow out there but its snowing so much you look like frosty after a few minutes. Went out for 5 minutes and had to put my clothes in the dryer after. I feel like wearing a raincoat to shovel the snow..

Call me naive, but everytime we get snow in this volume over this short period of time, I'm just struck with a bit of awe of just how all encompassing it truly is. SO mush snow.

Winter storm warning for
City of Edmonton - St. Albert - Sherwood Park continued
10 to 15 centimetres of snow developing tonight.
This is a warning that dangerous winter weather conditions are imminent or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions...Listen for updated statements.
An intense spring storm will move north through Central Alberta this evening. Heavy snow will begin in the Drayton Valley and Leduc regions this evening and spread north through Slave Lake overnight. 10 to 15 centimetres of snow are forecast to fall by Thursday night although melting could result in reduced accumulations. The highest amounts are expected to the west of the Queen Elizabeth highway. The Fort Saskatchewan and Leduc regions will only see heavy snow in the western portions of the regions. The storm will also produce strong northerly winds which will combine with the falling snow to give near zero visibility at times.
This winter storm can produce poor travelling conditions. Persons in or near these areas should be on the lookout for adverse weather conditions and listen for updated warnings.
A low pressure system currently in the High Level region will continue to move northward today bringing snow fall amounts of 10 centimetres to areas northwest of High Level today. Snow will begin to taper off this afternoon

it hasn't hit calgary yet but they were saying 15-24cm of snow this afternoon
I'll put it simply. There have been about 514 leap years since Caesar created it (Roman Calendar) in 45 BC. Without the extra day every 4 years, it would already be sometime in 2013. Also, the Mayan calendar didn't account for leap year...so technically the world should have ended already - if you believe the doomsayers crap.
