Pretty decent first period. The first five minutes were really good, and that penalty kill was absolutely brilliant. The pp didn't produce any goal, but it looked better than it's done recently. There were some nice puck movement by Read-Timonen-Voracek and JvR had a couple of chances down low.

The downsides from the period (excluding injuries) would be some sloppy passing from guys like Coburn and Simmonds, and the fourth line had a really long shift that could have gone bad. They looked really tired at the end there.

Bryzgalov looks great so far.
