You have to make it work cap wise. The Rangers are rubbing up on the cap. It makes it a slot trade and with those sometimes you really don't get to choose WHO you trade, more of how the numbers fit. If they aren't going to trade Girardi, I don't see how this works, because if they trade too many guys to the Ducks, now they have to take some back (where are the Ducks as the 50 limit goes?). Which means more cap salary taken on and more that needs to be traded.
To me it sounds like a not-well-thought-out rumor.
How would placing Staal on LTIR effect that? I don't know enough about the cap and stuff but I remember them talking about that last month.
Yes, but you'd be a fool Anaheim if you didn't ask for one of those top 4 defensemen, given the current state of their team and prospect pool
Absolutely. Because as flabbergasted as I was to hear they would even consider trading him in the first place, it blows my mind to hear the Rangers could be the front runner.
The Ducks can ask but I would honestly be shocked if the Rangers moved any of those 4 defensemen. A top 4 that good and that young, I dont blame them for saying they're untouchable. Even for someone like Ryan.
But again, that's why I don't understand why Anaheim would deal him here.
Girardi, Callahan and Staal (obviously) are untouchables. Other than that I see just blah blah blah.
From an outsider's perspective yes. But watching McDonagh at age 22 and Sauer at 24 play like veterans getting top 4 minutes in the toughest position in the game when they have 61 and 95 games respectively to their name is why they're on that list.
Stepan is NYR only true center beyond Richards and the kid has crazy vision and makes insane passes. Easy to see why they wouldn't want to give him up either.
Basically if Anaheim deals him to NYR and doesn't get any of those players that they're listing as untouchable it's another Sather **** job.
