NHL Regulars Who Played Their 19/20yo Season in CHL

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to get a large sample size of NHL regulars -- or players who played at least 2 seasons -- who played their last junior eligible season in junior.
I haven't found an easy enough site for plucking these off, so if you guys could help that be sweet (or know of a good site where I can filter that myself that's cool too).
I'm not looking for any particular skill level, so everything from genuine first liners to 4th line pylons. A mix of all levels is preferred, as long as it fits the criteria.

Thanks again guys.

EDIT:

Sorry, for the confusion guys; I poorly worded that title. I meant 19/20 as in to include those that turned 20 within their season... should have just said final non-overager season.

Specifically I'm looking for guys who have:
*played their final non-overager junior season in the CHL
*played 2+ years in the NHL
*non-goaltenders (not much of a point there)

You need to be specific, do you mean their overage season?

If so, Callahan and Girardi immediately come to mind.

Don't believe most of those guys played as 20 year olds. Usually if the player is good, they'll go to the AHL as a 20 year old.

Sorry I didn't mean overage season. I added on to the OP.

Are there any CHL goalies that didn't?

You'd be better off looking at this from the other way around. There are very few NHL players drafted out of CHL that do not play their final non-overage season in CHL, and exactly none that were not drafted in the top 15 picks in the NHL Entry Draft I am pretty sure. So just put together a list of NHLers from CHL, then go through the drafts checking the top 10-15 picks each year and start crossing off guys like Nugent-Hopkins, Hall, P. Kane, E. Kane, etc. IMO. Whatever's left, is your list.

Wrong. Latendresse and O'Reilly come to mind and there are probably others.

Hmm...Kyle Clifford is another. Yeah. Still think my way that searching the first 3 rounds then is easier than trying to list them the other way around. Most players don't make NHL at 19.

Sbisa has to be the weirdest case here, spent a full season in the NHL, then was returned to finish his junior career with a full season in Portland.

But as others have pointed out this is more common then the other way around. If something like 90% of NHL players come through the AHL spending at least some time there, think about that number and start applying it to the answer to this thread. I know some go to college and other things, but the point is straight from junior to pro isn't as common as a lot of people think especially in the bigger picture outlook.

Don't the majority of players play their 19 year old season? There aren't many 19 year olds in the NHL every year

Of the players the Rangers have drafted in the last 10 years, the only ones I can think of are Staal, Dubinsky and Dawes. Callahan and Girardi played as 19 year olds, but also played an overage year, so I'm not sure if they fit your criteria. Of that group, only Staal went straight to the NHL.

Picking 2005 as an example since it's far enough back we pretty much know who the established NHL regulars are. NHL regulars that played an additional 2 seasons in major junior after being drafted:

Round-Pick
1-2 Bobby Ryan
1-5 Carey Price
1-8 Devin Setoguchi
1-12 Mark Staal
1-19 Jakub Kindl
1-29 Steve Downie
2-33 James Neal
2-55 Adam McQuaid
3-62 Kristopher Letang
3-67 Kris Russell
3-79 Cody Franson
4-107 Tom Pyatt
5-132 Darren Helm
5-156 Ryan Reaves

I left out a number of borderline guys that played in the NHL this season but haven't cleared established they're full time players yet.

There are actually very few major junior draftees each year that don't spend two more years in juniors. Then there's also a good number of players that are eligible to play in the AHL the 2nd season after being drafted due to turning age 20 in that calendar year that do so.

Why? 99% of NHLers who have played in the CHL, did play their 19 years old season in juniors. Very few kids make the NHL at 18 or 19. Look at any given team and you'll find 10 guys fitting your criteria.

Troy Brouwer (19/20 and overager)
James Wisniewski
Brent Seabrook
Dustin Byfuglien
Bryan Bickell
David Bolland

They all played 2 more CHL seasons after being drafted.

Bergeron made the Bruins as a 2nd round pick right out his draft year.
