Good news. He did wonderful things in Binghamton, team-wise and personal development.

not really a shocker, they were already telling players to use Richardson for next year.

interesting its a 1 year though, he might be trying to get into the nhl next season

This extends him until the end of 2014-15. Of course the length doesn't mean much if there is an NHL out clause, as is often the case.

His daughter is going to school in Ithaca, he's here until she graduates I bet. This gives him three of the four years.

If he has another good year, which I expect he will, he will make the move up in his extension year. He has a special relationship with his players and they will work for him.

To what, AC? Unless they roll with three, I don't see Cameron or Reeds leaving.

Cameron or Reeves could be getting hc jobs in the not too distant future. Pretty sure Reeves interviewed for either Vancouver or Edmonton's job.

Why just one year? I find that one year contracts are typically "iffy" contracts. Kind of like "I'll do one more year if..." or "we'll let you do one more year if..." type situations. Why not longer term?

I believe that this is a contract extension to his original which ends at the end of this season. So they're extending him a whole year early.

It's better for Luke because if he can keep getting good results from his players he could be interviewing for NHL jobs sooner than later.

Hopefully if he can only get NHL assistant coaching jobs he'll just want to stay down or ask to come back up to Ottawa

Great signing. I was kind of wondering about the one year term too, but considering his talent level they probably realize they can't keep him in Bingo for much longer.

I would guess that he will coach in Bingo until his daugther is finished school down there especially after his first yr going so well except for that early playoff exit. Congrats to Luke.

Glad, really thrilled to have Luke in Bingo for the next couple of seasons..guy knows his players and has earned respect across the hockey world..

He'll probably take residence right in the City downtown in his loft again..perfect for his daughter in Ithaca as well

He's likely to be an NHL head coach within the next three years. I hope so anyway. Great guy.
