Doubt we can fit him under the cap though.

See S Gomez

No ****, Comeau has 41 goals in 2 seasons. Darche doesn't even have that over his career.

And the best part is that when the media go berzerk that we let another Queb (Darche) go, Gauthier can tell the press "Comeau... Sounds French, no?"

Islanders fans have been complaining that Comeau has been lazy, even last year when he was producing. Maybe that would change in a different environment though.

I doubt we get a sniff.
I wouldn't be pissed if we did...change of scenery might help unless he has some off ice issues that are causing it...1 year 2.5 mil then a RFA. Unless he has a huge bounce back he won't get a qualifying offer.

Last 2 years 138 GP 41-40-81.

In order to be worth it he would have to play top 9 minutes, otherwise it's dumb to pay a guy 2.5 mil to play 4th line...is he an upgrade on Cole Pacioretty Gio Cammy AK DD Eller Pleks Gomez or Moen?

Would be a treat to see Comeau picked up and Gomez waived...

but short of that I'd take a simple waiver claim on Comeau.

with 1/4 of the season gone & all the ltir we've got, I'm sure there'd be no problem fitting him under the cap.

would rather see PG tweak roster by adding a guy like that, at no cost, then see him trade away assets down the road (especially picks) to improve depth for the playoffs.

Comeau would be a perfect addition to our 4th line, and if he can improve his effort, perhaps even slot in as a nice addition to our top 9.

kids' got size, hands and is a solid skater.

exactly the kind of no risk big reward type move we should be making... which is perhaps why there is little to no chance we make a claim

Sound like another Benoit Pouliot to me. I wouldn't sign him.

Especially when you're dressing Palushaj and not even playing him and Mathieu Darche who i'm still trying to figure out how he's managed to play every single game this year.
Darche has played every game because we have 13 forwards and the other 12 have never all been healthy at once.

With so many of our struggling players leaving and eventually revitalizing their careers somewhere else (see Ribeiro, Kostitsyn, Higgins, D'agostini), it would be about bloody time someone would come to our team and do the same. We're due!

Don't need to sign him, he comes off waivers and brings us more depth. If we don't like him, he leaves after this season RFA. Not much to lose and adds lots of depth which the way we have been affected with injuries so far this year, isn't a bad thing

We lose 2.5 mil in cap room and add a contract to the 50 contract limit, plus there is no guarantee that he doesn't keep playing like crap.

It could work out, but it's not a no brainer.

Huet and Gorges off the top of my head.

Thats true. It would make trading a bit harder unless you are making a 1-1 trade or trade where you are sending more players to the other team.

Plus he played with Josh Gorges when he was captain at Kelowna (Confirmed?!?). Can only mean Captain Josh will push him

What happened to Derick Brassard? He's been a healthy scratch five games in a row. Has his game really slipped that much? He's been really injury prone too..

Why should claim Comeau. No risk - possible mid reward.

Didn't even look at his contract. 2.5 is a lot for a Benoit Pouliot clone.

Gauthier should pull a trade should Colombus ever be willing to let him go for cheap. Brassard still has heaps of potential.

Claim Comeau, but I'm sure someone who finished lower than us will nab him before.

I wouldn't mind gambling on him, depending on the cost. He'd probably cost a 2nd or 3rd rounder or comparable asset. If they want a 1st then nevermind.
