Very good poll, now is an old school PFW, big, not that fast, very tough, and plays a really rough game. Patches seems like the new bread of PFW, skill, speed, not as physical.
In terms of skills, I think Patches has a lot more raw skill, skating, shot, passing, and defensive, but Lucic seems to be more effective.
I guess I'd say tie, but the edge goes to Lucic because he has done more so far in their career.
I prefer old-school PFs. They're a LOT harder to find.
I'm probably biased (OK I'm definitely biased) but I'll agree with this post here. Pacioretty is a heck of a player though, don't get me wrong. It's sort of an apples to oranges type comparison.
I think Paccioretty is a more talented player, and probably has the higher ceiling.
However, Lucic brings much more toughness to a team.
I guess they both fit their team really well. I don't see the Habs trading Pac for Lucic, nor do I see the Bruins trading Lucic for Pac at this point in time.
If I had to pick someone, I'd take Paccioretty, because I'm a Habs fan
But nonetheless, even though they are both considered like ''Power Forwards'', their respective styles are extremely different.
Why later? Whats going to change? Honest question...
Pac hasn't played a full year in the NHL yet. He's still developing Lucic is not as much.
Patches in the future, Lucic nowish. I still would take Patches (I prefer speed and skill to toughness and grit), but I understand why Lucic is likely better at what he does.
Overall, I go with Pacioretty. He has just begun to scratch the surface of what he is capable of.
Lucic is ~6 months older than patches
Max is very skilled. But I wouldn't want someone that hides behind refs on my team.
It's extremely rare to find someone with the combination skill set Lucic has, don't underestimate how vital big hits and intimidation is to winning a championship
Lucic is also on a 39 goal pace, with no empty netters yet
Max Pacioretty for me, he's a much better skater and I think he can be a 35-40 goal scorer while Lucic will probably just be a 25-30 goal man. Both great players though.
Dissapointed with you drebs, I always saw you as a rational hab fan, but your post doesn't make any sense and isnt relevant. Max hides behind refs, he does it all the time, what does that have to do with me and whether or not I am personally "tough"?

"argue the point not the poster"
I like Lucic game but this was not his best performance.
Neely would never do something like that.

Its just as silly as saying that I would never take Lucic on my team cause he's a "dirty" player.
Pac's is a hell of a player, and its fair that you wouldn't want him on your team over Lucic, but to say that you wouldn't want him on your team because he "hides behind the refs" is stupid. Sorry but it is.

I think the question is about hockey, not the cheap stuff Boston does after EVERY whistle...
