There is no way a game between the Sharks and Wings on a February morning is a ratings test for a winter classic. Absolutely ridiculous, where do you guys come up with this? The winter classic GETS ratings because everyone is home on New Year's morning. The average fan (ie. who the winter classic caters to) won't give 2 ***** about waking up to watch a regular season game on a weekend in February.

The February game on NBC is not a "national" game in that they are showing 2-3 games at the same time. So selected national audiences will view the Sharks-Wings game.

(Sharks still won't have had a NBC national game. Sigh.)

Sharks would host one tomorrow if they had cold/dry enough weather. It's not the temperature as much as the rain that would most likely be the issue of hosting a WC, say at AT&T Park (or Stanford Stadium).

They could have it at Tahoe... that'd actually be awesome

I've thought before as well. As cool as it would be, I don't think there is an arena there that would suffice...

Who invited the party pooper?

2 cents:

1- WC in Detroit vs Sharks would be f#$%ing awesome!!! ...and I would definitely be there.
2- WC should only be hosted in a place where there is a possibility of snow.

So you're saying there's a chance.

Come on, HB. Any team could win the Cup .. no one wants to see the Florida Panthers.

Also, my boss is one of the leaders of the Olympic committee to bring the 2022 Olympics to Reno/Tahoe. If we get the games, we'll have another Olympic Pavilion soon.

Gotta have the seating. Though Tahoe Olympics would be amazing. Having availability to my good friend's cabin up there will be PRIME!!! Where do I sign?

except NBC hates New Jersey. I could see Detroit hosting Chicago or Pittsburgh though.
