Our penalty-takers.

Just looking through the team stats, starting looking at team penalties. I thought I'd be looking at Dupuis, Brown, and probably Komisarek as the top 3. But not quite:

Pims11 C PHILIPPE DUPUIS 20 0 0 0 -2 14 0 0 0 24 0.0
3 D DION PHANEUF 22 2 14 16 2 18 1 0 0 56 3.6
2 D LUKE SCHENN 21 0 4 4 0 24 0 0 0 24 0.0
8 D MIKE KOMISAREK 18 1 3 4 3 26 0 0 0 12 8.3
19 R JOFFREY LUPUL 22 11 15 26 7 28 3 0 1 65 16.9
18 R MIKE BROWN 18 1 2 3 0 31 0 0 0 20 5.0

So Mike Brown topping out the list, not really a big surprise. But then... Lupul? He's the second most penalized player on the team, and he's not taking too many 5 minute trips to the bin. And did anyone else feel like Dupuis had way more than that? I feel like he's always in the damn box. Schenn's had, what 2 or 3 fights now, so that's not too bad. But what the hell is Lupul doing?

How does Lupul have 13 minors but 28 minutes?

Double minor? Or did he serve a bench penalty?

Lupul bring value (points) to the team. Dupuis does not. There is no place for him on this team. Id rather Darryl Boyce or Kadri move up. (Crabb would drop down, Kadri take his spot)

I was thinking that last night when Dupuis got another stupid penalty. Most of his penalties are stupid hooking or high stick and most are in the offensive zone.

Once we are finally healthy I can see him in the press box as I don't think his value as a PK'er is worthy of him being in the lineup.

Lupul serves the bench penalities (too many men on ice or goaltender penalty).

Why do the PIM's for those penalties get tacked on to him when he had nothing to do with those?

Didn't he get a double minor for high-sticking not too long ago?

EDIT: Yup, he had a double-minor for hi-sticking in the Philly game.

Wouldn't that just count as two minors?

Why do people want Boyce so bad? What has he done in the AHL this year before he got injured? There's a reason why Dupuis has been in the NHL longer then Boyce. Only reason why he played last year is because our team was pretty bad and injuries I believe. Kadri on the 4th line sounds like a great idea.

Why Dupuis is on the ice is a mystery. Flat out mystery, maybe he pays the leafs to play.

Lupul is a classic example of a guy whose not doing anythign good for your team if hes not scoring. Fortunately hes scoring.

Because he can do more than Rosehill and Orr (specifically on the PK).

The only reason why it seems like he takes so many penalties is because he only gets 9 minutes a game. But he took a good penalty last night on that 2-on-1 in the first period. Although I'd say the true myster is why Wilson was playing the 4th line against Lecavalier and St Louis...

Phillipe Dupuis...new whipping boy? Now that Komisarek is playing better (and also inured now), and Schenn has also improved.

Dupuis has been taking a lot of penalties lately compared to early in the year. I remember in the 10th game this season Dupuis took a penalty and someone commented in the GDT that he takes too many of them, and someone else replied that it was his first penalty this season. So he never had any in his first 9 games(and yes I did check to confirm this).

So all his penalty minutes have come in the past 13 games so it seems like he's taking them all the time, so that's why that number seems low

I'm suprised about Lupul's number too

would have been a good penalty had he actually done something that deserved a penalty there. That was a bad call imo, definately not worthy of a hooking penalty
