Eller might have to be a winger if he keeps sucking on the faceoffs so much.
I know it, but at least Eller has the size and the ability to keep up with other teams centers after the draw. If you could combine Eller and Desharnais to form Ellharnais you'd have a perfect 2nd line center behind Pleks.
This early in the season, I think he's more of a product of his linemates. I'm hoping he gets better, I have nothing against him or his caphit.
If he was a product of his linemates, he'd have about 30-points. The kid has set up so many plays and nothing has come from them (aka until the last week and a half, Cole's shooting at the chest).
He's already improved his faceoffs (his been the best faceoff guy on the team since the first 5-6 games).
He's working harder defensively (still room for improvement) and I'm sure he'll learn the ins and outs of things as he goes.
I can't fathom how a kid with over a 0.5 PPG with well under 100 games is something to worry about.
Good period and game by the Habs. Much better effort then the last two periods of hockey.
I hate Martin's system but when the team buys into it, we always have the chance to win the game. We have yet to be truly embarrassed on the scoreboard this season. Just need to get healthy .
Gomez with #11 in MTL
GP: 90
Goals: 7
Assists: 33
POINTS: 40
PPG: 0.444
This was obviously the turning point of his Montréal stint. He's declining very fast. I hope he feels the shame to be the most overpaid in the god damn league.
Cuz booing him will make him play better, right? I'll never understand booing a player on a team you cheer for.
It is venting frustration with a player that is considered useless. Eric Staal isn't booed because his slump is a rarity but more importantly, he is damn well giving his all to try and find the net. Gomez does nothing, thus he is booed for it.
Lord knows he should have never been allowed to touch Koivu's number to begin with.
Not saying it should be retired or anything, but he did a lot for the city and he was our best player for a decade...
It's probably karma.
He should never have been allowed to wear number 11 just after Koivu indeed. But really, you guys know how supersticious hockey players are. If I were Gomez, I'd take 91 back for sure ! I'd even make call 911 jokes.

Ellharnais would better than Plekanec.. that's not offense meant, but if Desharnais was in Ellers body (with his defensive awareness)... ouch. Teams would hate us.
He's just very replaceable and nothing special in my opinion. Pleks and Eller are much better centers in all aspects of the game, so that takes the top 2 spots, and he can't play on the 4th line. He gets eaten up by any decently sized opposing center. He can play on the PP, and I'd maybe see a spot for him occasionally on a wing but that's about it.
I agree the guy needs to work on his skating and leg strength... Those improvment would make us forget that he is very small and would get knocked on his ass less often... But he is one of the player on the team with the best vision and he shows up every game... Eller should take some notes

If Desharnais would have had Eller's body....he would have been drafted.....and not by us....

Eller's younger, I think it will come... Desharnais has good vision, I often wonder if it would be better on the wing.
