I speculated on the line-ups myself because of the father's trip, so I don't know how accurate they'll wind up being. Hard to imagine Johnson isn't in net because of that, but if he struggles again I don't think we'll be seeing him as frequently as we move on for a while. He's due for a big game and I want to believe that it'll happen tonight.
Lol....in the gdt thread you said u would post something light, and it ends up gdt of the year!! Great stuff!!!!

I'll miss this one as I'm at a wedding. Go pens!!!!!!!!!!!

Marcel Goc won't play tonight for the Cats. Upper body. Michal Repik (one of my fetish players) has been recalled. Tim Kennedy and Shawn Matthias will likely both center their own lines tonight.

Also, Jeffrey definitely won't play. He's out for 10-15 days of rehab (whatever that means). I wonder if they'll dress Mac again tonight.

We need the two points here to get back on track.

Awesome GDT as always.

Got a kick out of the Picard facepalm also.

As great as the Pens' start to the season has been, if they lose tonight they'll fall to .500 on the road, not to mention it would be their 3rd loss in the past 4 games.

With a relatively healthy lineup (only Sid and Michalek out as key members of the team), they need to start playing better, especially defensively.

as far as i'm concerned they're already below .500 on the road. only 3 ROW in 11 road games.

and 2 out of those 3 were the mighty islanders and flames

Relatively healthy, yes. But it seems to me they are starting to mentally miss not having Sid in the lineup.

The players are human. I'm sure subconsciously they're a bit like us on this board...anxiously awaiting his return, to put it politely.

I really want to get rid of the lose point. That Panthes are 9-9 & in a playoff spot. 2 points for a win or nothing.

I want to get rid of the loser point because of the shell teams go in when they are in games that are tied up with 5 mins to go in the 3rd. That last 5 mins should be the most exciting 5 mins in hockey, meanwhile it's typically some of the most boring mins of the game because both teams turn into New Jersey of the 90's.

Under the old system, keep in mind that any shootout wins or losses now would simply be ties before. They wouldn't be losses. Only OT losses count toward inflating point totals in today's NHL. So the Panthers would be 8-6-4. The Pens would only be 8-6-5. So it's benefited us as much as anyone.

Not saying it hasn't benefited us but the idea is just wrong. I thought after Flyers/Rangers I believe? game last year when they just stared at each for two minutes so they could the points would bring attention to whats wrong with it but I was wrong.

Teams did that before the rule was implemented before, too...except it would last the entirety of overtime, too.

People need to get off BJ's back. The guy's arguably the best back-up in the league...5 games doesn't change that.

I hate the word tie. If you don't win, you've lost. If no one wins, they're all losers!

James Neal - he looks like a porn star in those Hawaiian shirts and his Fu.

Jordan Staal is on pace for a 70 point season.

Props to Alexandre Picard for stepping into the lineup and for the most part going un-noticed. Thats a good thing for a defender.

Time to muck things up tonight...

But at least now overtime is opened up. Before, not only were teams trying to get to OT, they were being safe in OT so they'd at least get a point. Now teams can go for it since even if they take chances that cost them a goal, they still walk away with a point.

One remedy is one that I'm not even a fan of, but that's the suggestion for 3 points for a regulation win. It would make teams think about going for it all before regulation ends to get those 3 points instead of waiting until OT to potentially get 2.
