So my trade proposal thread seemingly was too much, so what im asking is: Is Koivu here to stay? He was supposed to be our C but since that new contract his play hasn't been anything special and that lucrative 6+ mil/year contract seem like 1-2 mil overpayment.
So my question is, should we trade Koivu or keep him for his PK abilities only?
PS this is a matter I'd like to discuss with wild fans, thanks
he is 4-5m player if you look around the league(but earning like a superstar) and when fans are fed up with his play its time to move on.
We're second in the conference. Kiovu is still bringing much and more to this team, and you falsely claim that his leadership is only by example, otherwise we would be screwed with this D-core and the volume of new players in the team. You don't sell low was a good point too, also you don't sell your captain when you're second in the conference. No no and no.
There is more to him than goals and assists. He needs some time to adjust to the 2 guys on his line. Going from Bruno and Mittens to Heatley and Setoguchi is like Flying from Minnesota to Florida in the wintertime. Huge difference in the style, speed, and positioning of the two players.

our young D exellence has more to do with yeo than with koivu and 2nd/3rd lines has carried scoring torch so far. Like many wild fans have said it has nothing to do with koivu.

Please for the love of God, tell me you're joking right there. You don't move a player simply because the fans aren't happy with the guy at the present moment. My gosh, there were plenty of times when the fans were ticked off with Gabby. Did that mean it was time to pick up the phone and trade him? No. Cullen was fairly average (if not poor) last season, and I can recall people getting a little frustrated with him. Should we have traded him then? Look at him now.
There's a reason why fans aren't GM's. You seem to be commenting a lot about how the fans are upset with him....as if that's the top reason why you want to get rid of him. Makes no sense.

My thought on Koivu has always been that he has all the tools to be a good #1 center, but is more effective as a great #2. All the pressure of being the captain and expected to put up 80+ points doesn't do well for him. As a #2 less pressure, less ice time against top pairings, and less pressure to score. He could could be that great shutdown two-way center ala Ryan Kesler in Vancouver with Henrik Sedin or Mike Richards in Philly with Carter and Giroux.
that my friend is pretty unpopular statement among "wild" fans.
That is absolutely absurd! Koivu is the Captain and has been an obvious leader on and off the ice for YEARS for this team. You don't suddenly lose leadership ability in 19 games.
Koivu has no business being mentioned in trade speculation threads.

for Staal as I mentioned in Trade forum. Staal bring points/goals and leadership.

here in HFboards fans are pretty wise and farsighted, but im also taking to account wild.com fans and they are already throwing koivu under the bus.
