We could pretty much trade an entire second line this year in Paajarvi-Gagner-Hemsky for an elite defenseman and still be solid up front if we can get in the top two territory for the draft.

I think if Dumba is around when the Oilers draft, he is their pick. Fills a lot of needs. As terrible as they are, I see the team drafting 4,5,6,or 7 this year

How did we manage to get by when he was playing on the wing for most of this season so far?

I'd still do that trade all day every day. And twice on Sundays.

I'm sure guys like Ebert, Murray, and Dumba are all guys they would like, but I'll be curious to see where they have some of the D ranked in a combined list with all of the forwards.
I'm sure they will take their BPA, but not sure where guys like Grigorenko, Galchenyuk, and Forsberg will be relative to some of the top 6-7 d-men.

Dumba is anything but a sure thing.

I like Dumba as much as the next guy, but I don't think he'd fit this team like a glove as some people have mentioned.
We need a defenseman that is going to move the puck up to our forwards. We need one that can make a breakout pass of variable feet. Visnovsky was a great defenseman, but he was more of a puck rusher rather than a puck mover.
Sign me up for Ryan Murray. He has both parts of that to his game. He can throw the puck up ice and he can gallop with the best of them.
I would say it's BS, they mention Omark and we all know he's injured. My best guess is that someone listen to a couple of pod cast of BS on CHED and wrote this crap.
Chorney and Teubert didn't look the best against Chicago but they seem to get better as the game went on. In some cases Chorney look good, weather the storm and wait for Whitney.

About the 2012 Draft, anyone else think that if we can snag another mid 1st round pick we might get Galcenychuk? I'm hoping he drops cause he's injured. Or even a guy like Morgan Reilly.
About the current defense, I say we pick up a guy like McCabe on the cheap so we have someone back there that's reliable. He's a better option than Chorney/Petry/Peckham right now.

I don't believe McCabe is an option. I believe the rumor is that he doesn't want to play in the Western Conference.

I re-watched the 1st period of the 9-2 blowout and noticed Chorney pushed around by a half-dozen forwards. The Hawks could have scored 3-4 goals in the 1st alone with Chorney on the ice.
He's not an NHL D-man.
I'd take Matt Greene back from the Kings in an instant. He's overpaid, but almost worth his salary unlike Sutton + Foster + Barker.
Chorney looked terrible yesterday. Every time the hawks had sustained pressure in our zone, you could see number 42 flailing and running around. He has no idea how to play defense at the NHL level. Even on the pp, his nerves got the better of him. I'm surprised every GM in the NHL just wants to keep the status quo and no one is trading anything, including spare parts. Seems stupid and unreasonable.

I am sure the Oilers are glad they signed Tulupov and claimedChorney.

I thought he looked alright last night. Not all-star caliber by any means, but he was decent enough against a strong Hawks team.
