Hmm a sign and trade. Interesting.

I wonder who gets him, someone who can take a risk on Turris, but also could use some secodary scoring.

How about the Isles?

Bailey for Turris centered swap?

Id say Ottawa or Calgary. Probably Calgary is more likely, for the fact that they are struggling and they will want to shake things up.

I don't understand why they had to sign him to trade him.

I would guess the oil. In two years they will have to decide how much of a raise to give Horcoff and will need Turris off the books.

Ha. Actually, with that logic I would guess the Rags.

What would/could Calgary offer to get Phoenix interested?

right now we aren't THAT thin at center with The Nuge going at a point a game pace and Horc playing well at the 2nd center position on his way to a 50 point season. Lander, though not productive, is doing what i thought he would do...play well defensively and work hard. we just aren't getting anything out of Gagner or Belanger. we paid out a good contract to Belanger to get not just the good faceoffs, but some production and he hasn't been giving that so far, he hasn't in my book been earning his contract yet.

Part of the demand of the deal perhaps? Makes you wonder if the Oilers are involved, for Gagner, that would be nifty.

For a player less accomplished and proven then Gagner? Probably Marincin or Hamilton and a 2nd

The one that doesn't employ John Shannon and Doug MacLean.

Ok totally random here but after watching the game yesterday and thinking about the impact Smyth has had on this team, I'd like to see the Oilers try to get Iggy from the Flames.

I know all the arguments against it:
-Flames would never trade face of franchise to Oilers
-Iggy's salary is prohibitive when it comes to signing the kids
-Oilers would never trade the assets required to get Iggy
-Oilers have enough forwards (especially on RW with Ebs and Hemmer)
etc

But his size, leadership, toughness and work ethic are exactly what this team needs and having him around the kids would be HUGE for their development.

Gagner, Omark, MPS
for
Iginla

I know I'm going to get blasted for my post so flame away

If that's the case I wouldn't do the trade, I think that would be giving up too much.

Yes, let's just help our provincial rivals rebuild quicker. I like Iggy but I wouldn't give that package (even if it is fair value)

Good at least he came to his senses. It's a far cry from the 2.5-3 he was asking for in the off-season.

on the flipside....Feaster gets fired and the Flames probably loose a fan or two (hundred) to the Oilers....

they do compete for fanbase, do they not?

EDM would have to add a lot more to get Iggy out of cowtown.
Paajarvi and Gagner are pressbox material so far this season... Omark is injured down in OKC.. The value is definately not there..

But it's not like you're trading Andrew Cogliano or even Gilbert Brule, this is Sam Gagner, we'd be lucky if the Yotes even stayed on the call passed Sam...

IMO its just principle for the Yotes. They aren't going to negotiate trades for a player that's unsigned because then if you get terrible offers you're screwed because he can't play the rest of the year.

At least if you get him to sign and you can't work out a deal, you have a 21 year old centre ready to step in to help their weaker centre depth.

Gagner for Turris and David Schlemko. I would be happy with that. Both Gagner and Turris need a shakeup anyway.

I still don't know why we should do Phoenix a favour and take Turris off their hands.
