Will rich teams capitalize on the buyout clause?

The new buyout clause puts teams in a unique position where they can essentially trade cash again. For example, the rangers could trade future considerations for gomez + pick/prospect/player, then buy Gomez out without any cap issues.

Seems like an interesting opportunity for the rich teams to capitalize and essentially trade cash for some assets.

What do you think, will we see any of these types of deals?

It's not like Montreal is struggling for money to buy out Gomez...

Also, Rangers are expected to buy out Redden.

the three teams with bad contracts are Montreal, NYR and Toronto.

Can you name the top three grossing teams?

Aren't there restrictions on buying out a player after trading for him?
