At this point Semin has played his way to Deadline Trade Bait, unless he stops taking penalties and puts pucks in the net.
BB is staying behind the bench until Green comes back. We're not gonna see a Very Hanlon Thanksgiving this season.
I'd imagine it's gonna stay the way it is, right now. GMGM doesn't want to admit that he should have fired BB after the Tampa series. He's gonna give him the chance to right the ship, before he cans him.
Every team hits a rough patch in the season. We'll get through it. We always do. However, who's still going to be on the ship after we weather this storm is the real question.
It is way too funny that people want to fire Bruce a hire a coach who finished dead last in his OHL division last year.
If you really want to ride the side of defending Bruce, you have to bring more than attempts at being witty. Just sayin...
On the optional practice....not surprised at all that nobody showed. Stop making it optional and it won't be an issue.

George McPhee....The Teflon GM. 15 years of failure and counting....

If you think line inconsistency is causing our problems, I'm afraid you're in for a very nasty surprise.
I agree...when I see people constantly complaining about line juggling, I wonder if they've have watched more than a handful of hockey games. Line juggling happens every night for every single NHL team.
How many optional work days do you go into the office for?
How many optional team practices under Bruce's tenure have had no one there? I am going to go out on a limb and guess zero. I presume its not commonplace regardless otherwise we wouldnt be talking about it. I dont like the smell of it, personally. The players need to get away from the rink. Its only November, but hey, maybe it's normal - I am not an NHLer. I would think an eakin would be there, Orlov, at least. Beagle. We will get your answer in 2 hours if we needed to practice or not.
Amazingly it seems the NFL has near perfect attendence in their optional team activities.
So it is Semin who got us here. I'm so ****ing happy we pin pointed the problem with Washington Capitals!!!!
Before it was Circles, than Flash and now its Semin, i would love to see who is proclaimed to be the next ******* that drags this team down to the point of losing 4 straight to Tampa and inability to beat Halak the year before... How didnt i see that its all Semins fault. Ah **** it, trade all the talent, get some grinders and lets rebuild. Dump and chase sound fun.

They also have team leaders.
I'm more amazed that an apparent scratching of Semin... and he skips. He must have got the memo that he was on thin ice.
Something tells me if they had a Lt Sopel forcing one of their teammates to run Curahee again, there wouldn't be any teammates that volunteered to help that person finish. The idea that you're only as strong as weakest link seems foreign.
Extremely disheartened if Ovi's response to this tough treatment is to coward into a shell for much longer.
While I've wanted BB gone since post-Montreal, the players have so much culpability in this mess its not funny.
the problem with the "rough patch" argument is how the caps look. ive watched the pens and bruins lose in recent weeks and they dont lose like the caps do. they dont get embarrassed. theyre always physical, good on the forecheck, etc. positionally sound, not skating around like headless chickens.
losses like edmonton arent a bother whatsoever. not in the slightest. caps play that game (with slight improvement in the 1st period) and they win 7.5/10. problem is, most of their losses arent like that. they dont compete hard, play smart. they dont outwork the other team and just get unlucky.
as for trading semin, i dont think it'll ever happen, but if GMGM was to even consider it i think semin would need to play better to remind people what theyre trading for. otherwise i can only assume his value would be pretty darn low, and the caps dont need a low 1st and middling prospect at this point. and of course, the chicken-egg argument, if he starts earning more trade value...maybe hes worth keeping.
I guarantee that if we scrap the dump and chase, we'd get a win sooner than later.
FWIW they seemed to abandon dump and chase at the end of the Maple Leafs and it didn't make much of a difference on the scoreboard. Then again they did get more scoring attempts and Ovechkin went beserk so yeah, probably best to get rid of this dump and chase crap at least with our skilled lines. Chimera-Laich-Ward trying dump and chase and their tick tack down low cycle should stay.

I felt the same way after the loss, then accepted it once I knew there was no change coming. The players are as culpable if not more so than Bruce even. It's beyond disappointing to see Ovy acting this way on the ice.
