Coincidentally, they're doing so while having an awful PP.

I guess he's bringing both his strengths and his weaknesses from Pittsburgh to Minnesota.

You wouldn't love it as much as Caps fans as would, trust me. As a Caps fan, thats what I'm praying for.

I've never heard Joe B sound so frustrated before. Basically pointed out how none of the big name players look like they cared, that the Caps were basically playing Rochester, and that the same questions he had vs Toronto were still unanswered.

Also, Logan Couture has a weird Crosby look to him, but also a bit of Butthead.

Was talking to my dad on the way to football yesterday about Ice Hockey, he told me he feels like supporting one of Pittsburgh, NY Rangers or Washington. He chose Washington........

I thought the same thing when I was watching him on After Hours on CBC last night!

Rumors are circulating on twitter that Boudreau may have been fired tonight...

If true, I sincerely hope his coping mechanism doesn't include binge eating...the fast food industry might not be able to keep up with the demand.

You'd think if Boudreau was going to be canned we'd hear about it already since they had all day.

It doesn't matter. That core of players isn't making it past us and Boston. People need to realize it's Ovi, Semin and Green that are the problem there. They're not going to lead you to a Cup and I'll stand by that statement.

Can't say I disagree, but the prospect of the Caps firing BB and finding a guy that can motivate/connect with their stars is absolutely frightening.

I agree to an extent.

Crosby > Ovechkin
Malkin > Backstrom
Staal > Semin
Letang > Green
Fleury > Anyone

I'm not too worried. Capitals fans are rumbling about "trading Ovechkin" Shows how little that fan base knows hockey. He puts butts in the seats, he's not leaving. I remember the good old days when Pittsburgh came to DC and the arena would be half or more Penguin fans.

Those are some odd combination considering you're comparing Ws to Cs. Also, that's why the game isn't played on paper. If we were to believe the < & >s Capitals should have beaten the AHL Sabres last night.

We can throw around greater than symbols all we want, but the fact remains if that offensive murder train gets rolling, they're going to be an extremely dangerous team. Whether BB is at fault or not, he's the easiest part to change out and as we all know a coaching change can spark a ridiculous turn of events.

Even with an offensive attack of that caliber (we've seen it before), still the same old Capitals on defense and in net.

They're not the same team they were two years ago when they were run and gun. They struggle to produce any offense from the blue line without Green. And depth scorers like Fleischmann, Fehr, Morrison, Belanger are out in favor of grinders like Ward and Brouwer.

Johansson and Semin would need to become playoff performers for them to have ever have the offensive firepower they once had imo.

As soon as I read they signed Roman Hamrlik, I just knew in my heart that this team was destined for failure once again. That guy is a turnover machine and mental mistake extraordinaire. They've gone from run and gun to a defensive system that has no transition to a team that is struggling at both ends of the ice. Their personnel still doesn't match their scheme imo.

It's official now. Fired.

I bet the Caps respond and very play well, like the Flyers did when Stevens was canned. Just my gut feeling. it's not like they don't have the talent there.

Just getting rid of Boudreau is an improvement on it's own. Interesting to see the effect of the new coach, Hunter in this case.

On a related note...

1 coach down. Could there be 2 today? Rumours suggest Paul Maurice will be replaced by Milwaukee's Kirk Muller. Interesting day.

I just find it odd that the Caps sort of started to slide a year ago when Boudreau asked the roster to become more defensive minded.

Philadelphia and Washington on rocky times. Pittsburgh needs to take advantage of this.

Would you guys trade for Ovechkin if we could get him for Staal + picks + a prospects?

I'm expecting that we'd have to give up someone size-able due to the cap but if it were possible, would you?

I'm not. That roster is mostly filled with overgrown, petulant children. Their coach was asking them to do something they didn't want to do (and arguably largely weren't capable of doing), wasn't that much fun and required a good deal of effort and hard work. So they reacted predictably. Particularly their captain... who I'm the most disappointed with in this entire saga.

I expected it from Semin. Not necessarily Ovechkin.

If he didn't have an eternity contract I'd trade for him.

Why though?

Let them keep OV. and Dale Hunter will get them a surge, but I doubt he's the long term fix they're searching for.
