+ This video applies after an amazing night last last night
Apt for me, living in the UK ha.
For me last night showed that Crosby still has it and then when our team is at full strength, we are amazing. I know it's only one game but damn our team looks good, I almost feel spoilt watching this team at times. I'm loving our depth though for scorers, amazing when you think we have Staal, Malkin, Crosby, Neal and potentially Dupuis and Kunitz to rely on, although the last two less so.
Fleury was outstanding last night and deserved the shut-out, I think the players realised that there was no point rubbing it in anymore about 3 minutes from the end so just tried to help protect Fleury's goal. I think he'd have that record already if it wasn't for the number of last minute goals that he has conceded in his career.
Interesting. I didn't really know his game has slipped that much. He might look better in our defensive system though...
He's certainly lost a step or two since his last game in a Penguins' jersey. Injuries over the past couple of seasons, as well as age (he's 34 years old now going on 35 in May) have caught up to him, IMO.
Also, I'm not sure he'd fit as well in our transition game. He was serviceable as the defensive anchor for Letang in our Cup year, but I think both Engelland and Niskanen (and as much as he's struggled this year, Lovejoy as well) are better puck movers at this point than Eaton is.
I could be wrong, and it could be due to just how bad the Isles are as a team making him look worse than he actually is. But Eaton would be similar to Jay McKee, with less shot blocking.
