Totally random, but that ^ comment (a great one) triggered a long-lost memory, from Lemaire's first go-round with NJD back in the 90s.

Game vs. NYR at MSG. Pre-shootout, back when ties (oh the horror! ) were acceptable among most NHL hockey people.

Anyway, dying seconds run off in 2-2 OT game, players leave the bench. Camera pans to Jacques behind the bench, arms folded, with a broad smile on his face, simply staring at the ice, nodding his head slowly. John Davidson, announcing for NYR, picked up on it and commented that Jacques was rightly very happy with the play and was taking the long view: his team was beginning to play really good hockey.

They went on to win the Cup that season.

Point being, when you gauge a team, it's instructive to look at the big picture, instead of dealing with each night transactionally, as a major event.

Our PK has been the saving grace so far this season. I think we're at 93.7% now after this game.

DeBoer does it to give us a jump at the end of the PK, that we can carry over into the next shift. It doesn't really work.

As for Parise and Kovalchuk they're both playing hurt. Parise is cutting alot of shifts short and is always looking gimpy coming off. As long as they get secondary scoring it's not that big of an issue. Today's issue was that they couldn't get the puck in the 3rd period and were 100% blown up. Sucking wind.

And yes, they were beyond awful tonight. I wonder what Lemaire would have to say about this game....
Who picks them anyway?

Nothing. He`d love to talk about it, but he just can`t.

Media upstairs, the Devils beat writers and whoever CBJ sends with them on the road. So our guys were at least partially responsible for that abomination, I dunno what game they were watching. It was really sad. Maybe TG was too busy watching the Rangers game on his cubicle TV.

these comments never get old.

Well, that`s seriously ****ed up then. Those guys are covering hockey and getting paid for it. One would expect they have at least some sense for it.

The worst part is everyone's waiting to cheer Marty off and then that happens.

Total troll moment. Some clod who gets the puck bounced off his back skate (either by luck or a great play by *someone else*)... and he's the #1 star over a goalie who played out of his mind and absolutely stole a game.

I liked Larsson's game. I feel like he shot the puck more than usual. Did alright against Nash.

Probably one of Kovalchuk's worst games this year. Most of his passes were either to the other team or too far into open ice.

Also liked Tedenby's game. The guy is hungry. Sooner or later he's going to score.

You put far too much stock in the standings and not the personnel on that team. They're not as bad as their record indicates.
i agree. they have a bad record because of ****** goaltending. don't forget a fair number were predicting playoffs for them if mason had rebounded this year.
