What drives me a bit crazy is a game like yesterday-clearly what they were doing wasn't working. yet i didn't see any changes in the offense or defense. No things like setting up differently, trying to slow it down, try to speed it up, go to a press, go to a zone. nada. Same old thing everytime. And it does really get me crazy that he recruits kids like Ross, Shannon Scott, etc and then doesn't use them. To me that is his biggest fault. Oh well, time for hockey.
The Columbus Crew will hold a press conference with a major club announcement LIVE at 2pm ET on Wednesday, February 15. The press conference will be streamed LIVE on TheCrew.com.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Rams traded the #2 pick to the Skins for 3 firsts and a 2nd round pick.
hahahah thank GOD the Browns didn't make a trade like that. Even if RG3 ends up being successful in the NFL which is in no way guaranteed, that's a hefty price to give up. Now they just need to resign Hillis and forget about drafting Trent Richardson with the #4 overall. Take Blackmon, Kalil or Claiborne, whoever is left at 4.

Richardson has uncommon physical attributes, and I absolutely love his vision and patience. He's basically a more gifted version of Ray Rice. And no one on this board is more relieved than I am that he's done terrorizing my poor SEC team.
Generally, I'm very opposed to the idea of drafting a running back in the top five. That I'd take Richardson in that spot says something about what type of NFL player I think he'll be.

I agree, Your Honor, Richardson is the game breaker missing from the Browns attack (if I may call what they do on offense an attack!). Resign Hillis, but he's not the feature back that they need. Sure, a wideout with speed (and hands) is needed, but I'd rather see a vet brought in with some NFL success who can help out McCoy by finding space and actually holding onto the ball. If he can also mentor whatever else they have at the position, that'll be a bonus. A running back like Richardson can have a larger impact, straight out of college, than the draftable receivers, in my opinion.

I'm glad too, no one has shut up about RGIII around here, so glad we won't get him. There's too many other holes to fill right now.
Meh, the playoff picture and the running backs involved point to the fact that RB is a position where you can succeed plugging in talent from later rounds. Richardson is going to have what, 3-4 explosive years before the physicality of the game slows him down? It would probably be even shorter in Cleveland since there would be no passing game to alleviate the pressure on him. If he's available with the late first rounder, pick him up but in a pass oriented league, having an abysmal passing game is going to lead to losses one way or another.

Browns desperately need a pass rush too.
The way Richardson plays, that explosiveness or lack of isn't something that would necessarily be detrimental. Emmitt Smith was derided as slow, but it meant that he had to follow his blockers to be successful. Maurice Clarett in his one year had the same.

Did you seriously just cite Maurice Clarett as an example of why to draft a RB?

Well, he was the real key to that phony championship.
There are a small number of things that annoy me. Running backs who don't follow blocks are one of them. Clarett, Smith, and a few others followed blocks because they were too slow to get out ahead. Often, a running back with some serious speed tends to get jumpy and get outside of a lead blocker, meaning that a 5-to-7 yard gain goes for nothing.
What I like about Richardson is that he possesses acceleration that's extremely uncommon, but doesn't get undisciplined in the run game. He gets in behind lead blockers and can very quickly turn short yards into big gains.
I'd still re-sign Hillis, either as a change of pace or to act as a fill-in until the offensive line gets reinforced.
