Korpikoski's start isn't necessarily slow. If he sticks in the SM-Liiga for the entire season and averages .33pts per game, I think his season can be termed a success.

Also, just wanted to point out that Immonen had only 2 assists in 44 games in his first season in the SM-Liiga. Of course, his production did jump to 33 points the next season. Just a point of reference.

Add Rick Kozak to the "slow" list. He's not going anywhere thanks to that 15-game suspension.

You can add another pointless game to Immonen...and Bob you might be interested in the summary I put together for the month of September:

Although from Padawan's reviews, he's been playing quite well.

Rodent had a bit about the firing of Pardubice head coach Frank Vyborny. Apparently, he was relying heavily on NHL talent while Prucha was mired down on a kid line. Hopefully a new coach will get him more ice time with some more established talent and he can turn things around.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that Immonen was struggling, just that he didn't get any points today. You can only hope for Prucha's sake that something happens there...I wonder if he's now wishing he'd come over to play in the AHL

Crosby is now out two weeks in the CHL with a bruised knee due to a collision last night. His teammate retaliated punching away on Devils prospect Petr Vrana.

should mention bahensky while you're at it...off to a good start and has collected another shorthanded goal tonight against calgary so far

i'm not sure if the stats on him at whl.ca are including this game...but they say he has 4 points in 3 games so far, but if it's not including this game then at this point he has 5 points in 4 games

Psurny scored 1g 3a last night

Jonasen didn't play, not sure why, maybe he wasn't returned to WHL by the Wolfpack.

in europe, do they still only give one assist for each goal? If so, people need to remember that when comparing the stats of prospects in European leagues vs those in North America. It was also my understanding that the scorers in Europe are not as liberal with awarding even the 1 assist. For example, a Dman makes an innocent break-out pass, the forward skates through 3 opponents and beats the goalie out of his jock, the dman may not get an assist in Europe, as they view the goal as purely the work of the forward. I have never seen a European game, but that is what I heard often happenned.

No, they give two assists.

Check out Padawan's links for JYP highlights and Ola's links for Frölunda highlights which were posted to these boards. They show long highlight reels that give you an idea of what it's like. Padawan's link is on the 6th page (I think) of the Immonen/Korpikoski thread that's stickied at the top of the page, and Ola started two threads for Ludqvist highlights.

There has always been a two assist system but the rules are a bit diffrent. Like for example a goal is scored on a rebound there will only be one assist. And the assists are handed out by the refs which means that more assists are missed.

Another article said that the injury isn't as bad as first thought, and that he'll only miss one game.

What's the deal...

with Paiement? A defenseman who's second on his team in scoring and scoring at a 2 points-per-game clip. And he was a about a point-per-game last season. Can this kid not skate or something? Does he not play defense?

Nobody seems to know for sure.

I did some reading...

and I found a few things. One, he was older last season than most other draftees. Two, his number just started to take hold. His previous two seasons did not produce the results of last season. Three, his footspeed seems to be a problem. What I further read was that he is physical, and he is a crease-clearer. He must be a real bad skater, however.

Interesting pick at 8. Dale wasn't such a great skater (still isn't), but he improved each year and this guy supposedly has a decent shot and puckhandling capabilities. Eric Cairns was a pretty bad skater as well. Granted this kid could be downright horrible, as he was passed-up by many. With some hard work on that aspect, perhaps he becomes a player.

No way he is as bad a skater as Purinton. And as for being a year older, then so was Callahan who went in the 4th round, and many others I am sure, so I really doubt that is the reason.

WOW! Thanks a lot! I'm obviously the least enlightened poster on this board, but I DO know you're one of the "higher-ups," no?

Thanks... this is like Christmas for me!
