and the sad part is both sides are just going to sit there and hope the other caves. The sides are worlds apart. The owners hope the players get tired of sitting around and not making money. The players hope outside pressure, and the dark arenas put pressure on them [and the fact that many owners can afford a lockout doesn't hurt either; hoping that many players can't afford not playing]. It's going to be a waiting game and there's no apparent desire to resolve the issue.
It would be nice to have more information, though. Bits and pieces would be nice, but it doesn't tell the whole story.
And playing with the current CBA and negotiating isn't a viable option. It appeases us and the players, but not the owners. And how can Trevor Linden and other players seriously be involved in both? The players throw that out because they believe it plays to their PR advantage, when they know it's not a viable option and likely only enhances their position.
