Shane Doan to Dallas as UFA

http://starsblog.dallasnews.com/arch...-with-mar.html

I missed this blog post from Heika a week or so ago, but Doan and Gaglardi are obviously close. If the Yotes are able to remain in PHX, I doubt that he'd leave the team, but would you be interested in seeing him come to Dallas if PHX is relocated?

He can play RW and LW so he could obviously be a good option for the Benn-Eriksson line. However, I do believe Steve Ott has been good in his role. Plus, Eric Nystrom is obviously playing well with Fiddler.

Doan-Benn-Eriksson
Morrow-Ribeiro-Ryder
Ott-Fiddler-Vincour
Nystrom-Wandell-**** ****

This is clearly way down the line, but it was on my mind after reading the article.

Can't see Doan leaving that franchise unless they say we don't want you, ala Modano.

I could see it. Who knows whats going to happen to phoenix. He isnt getting any younger and I think he'd probably like to finish with a multiyear deal. Do you sign on with phoenix knowing how unstable the team is and having no clue where they might end up?

He's almost exactly the kind of guy Nieuwy wants.

Only reason I'd be mad about going after him though is if we seriously over pay or pass on a shot at Parise for this guy.

But if they both make it to FA, signing Doan might actually be pretty easy. Most teams that need a top 6 winger will probably look towards Parise, so Doan won't be as sought after as he should be.

But I would like that line up. Just not sure where he fits in if Ott proves he is a top 6er.

Doan is probably not going anywhere, he probably cares about his ranch more than anything at this point.

If we end up moving, I think Doan signs with a Cup Contender.

Take a peek at the standings, mate..

But to me Doan seems to be loyal to Coyotes, and they seem to be a bubble team this year..

13 games in doesn't make us a Cup Contender

Doan could wish to stay in the South, but ya I'd see him going on a Cup run.

Perhaps.
But they do not live at the AZ ranch.

He also has a massive ranch in AB.....the AZ one is small....5 acres.

He has an estate in Kamloops.
He has a business in Kamloops, a business in AB.

As sooon as the hockey season ends he and the family bolt back to AB & BC.
