Start Hockey Club

How can I start a High School hockey club that can participate in the U18 division? What all will we need, and are there any leagues in the southern region?

I'd suggest starting at www.usahockey.com. That organization pretty much runs hockey in the US. Their site has TONS of info, but unfortunately I find it's not very easy to find what you're looking for. So I'd check out this link:

Do poke around though, because I really have no idea how to go about this. But if this isn't it, I'm sure it's a good start in the right direction.

Good luck!

If that's not successful, it could be a travel team.

Lindsay, Slowe has given you a good place to start. I am not sure where you are located but your best bet would be to contact your local USA Hockey affiliate and discuss the options with them. They would be the ones best equipped to provide you with the necessary information.

Once you have narrowed down a league that would be willing to accept the team, then you will have to get into the logistics and financial realities of running this team. besides equipment you will need to consider the costs of travel, ice time, coaching, affiliate fees, player fees and insurance. I wish you the best and hope that you are able to find what you need.
