Yes, it's even more apealing and lucrative lately as every Russian is labeled something along the lines of "Lazy" while their teammates are let off as good hard working Canadian/American boys. You don't think the Russians notice how they are being treated by media? And the things that are said about KHL and the Russian teams? Just type in Radulov in google, or Russian hockey player and see what you get...
KHL has to start somewhere, and Kuznetsov can make a difference for the league and his team at home, he knows that and good for him
IMO, Russia fans posting here on HFboards are LOT more concerned with that stuff than the players are. Radulov has repeatedly made his own bed, so he has to deal with the repercussions. Anyone looking at that situation objectively understands that.
I don't think it's about that. If he's telling the truth, he wants to win a KHL championship, as well as Olympic gold and a Stanley Cup. He's got to figure that his best chance to win a Gagarin Cup is now, with what appears to be a very good team. It also sets him up nicely for Sochi, which could easily be his best shot at the Olympics. The Caps' window isn't closing soon with the young players on D and in net. He can afford to wait a little while.
Ovechkin may be the best window, but he won't be the only window.
I look forward to the next mystery window. Hopefully we dont have to wait as long to get another franchise level player, but I'm not holding my breath. After all....I'm a Caps fan. I know how this has gone in the past.
So what...because the Caps have Ovechkin, they shouldn't even be trying and although Ovy has performed at the "best player in the world" level multiple times, the Caps have no window because he's a winger?
How about Ovechkin/Backstrom/Green putting up world class numbers when everything was clicking? Still not a viable window to win in your eyes?
The Caps window ends with Ovechkin until they prove otherwise.
Leading scorer in the playoffs for the past 5 years? Bah, who needs that. Backstrom/Alzner is where it's at!
With my Backstrom/Alzner response I was just thinking its easier to win with a Stud Center and up and coming stud shutdown dman its something everyone is looking for at the deadline. I love Ovechkin and don't at all think he's the problem in DC btw.
Goals are a part of it. He also gets a good deal of assists and can produce with crap linemates while drawing the other team's best shutdown unit and pummeling the **** out of it. We saw it against Boston. His contribution goes way way beyond goals. He outscored Backstrom while having the top defensive units zoned in on him and paired with Laich/Brouwer/Johansson. And getting **** for icetime. I mean come on.
