Let's make a petition (READ AND MAKE STICKY)

Hi,
First of all I'd like to put an emphasis on the goal of the petition. It is not to induce or promote the end of the lockout. It is strickly to convince RDS to broadcast the Hamilton Bulldogs' activities.

We can have the petition online since RDS has good web services.

I'm waiting for your thoughts and ideas...

Let's prepare ourselves to go through the lockout with patience !

That's a good idea, I've talked about writing emails to RDS but that's another way of letting them know we're many out there. I don't know how to start this kind of things though, so if anyone could do it in a professionnal way.... (meaning.. the text must explain why they would benefit from broadcasting the bulldogs games, why we want to see them, etc.)

I have a feeling we'll be seeing lots of AHL games this year. In 94 there was only one cable sports network; now there are many: Sportsnet, the Score, TSN, RDS, NHL Network, etc.

The demand for hockey is clearly there. I'd be surprised if one or more of these networks didn't jump on the chance to host cheap AHL games and give us our fix this winter. The Bulldogs and Baby Leafs are the biggest draw in Canada, so I'm guessing that's what we'll see most of.

For my part, I'm going to try to get to the Bulldog-Leaf games in TO every chance I get, now that the Baby Leafs are here.

I'm also in but I believe Claude Mailhot of RDS already mentioned that it was the intention of RDS to carry some Bulldogs' games and also games of the QMJHL including PEI during the NHL lock-out.

I have no link. He said that on his show. He didn't say they would show all the games though. He mentioned they would carry some games.

Exactly, very good point !

I'm a french Canadian and my french is more than good enough to build a petition in a professionnal way but I'm not a professionnal conserning business talks and why it could be a good project for RDS... If someone on this board could help surrounding these specific informations, it would be more than appreciate !

Let's share our individual knowledge for the good of each and everyone of us !

I've just sent them the following message on their website:

__________________________________________________ _________________
Durant le lock-out de la LNH, est-ce l'intention de RDS de télédiffuser des matchs des Bulldogs de Hamilton. Si c'est le cas, combien de parties croyez vous télédiffuser et est-il possible d'obtenir un horaire à l'avance?

Merci

The V-P of RDS said on tv that they were preparing a schedule that would have the little 4 on 4's the players are organizing throughout Quebec, and on tuesdays and thursdays they would play old games played by team Canada. God, does that s*ck. It can be fun to watch old games, but at one point you wanna see stuff that's currently happening and that you don't know the ending of.

We should send the petition, once it's done, to Sportsnet East as well. I'm pretty sure we would have more luck with them, as they've shown some interest in the AHL in the past.

Ouch ! There's no doubt in my mind we should. We'll need someone to make an english version, professionnal, of the petition for sportsnets. They should show interest as you mentioned. Let's wait a couple of days to see if anyone on this board can help us surrounding the good business reasons for corporations such as RDS and Sportsnet to broadcast Hamilton Bulldogs' activities through out the year... then we'll move to the next stage, which is to build the petition.

Thanks for the information Rahan (Has this name any link with the character of Rahan for young kids ? The one looking like Tarzan. Rahan stronger than elephants, Rahan faster than wind... etc...)

Hehe, exactly, that's where I took the nickname.

As for how to put the reasons, that's how I see it for now: (to be rewritten in a better way)
Since we're all in the same boat - we have no NHL hockey coming up this fall - we, the fans, wanted to let you hear our suggestion on what your station should be broadcasting that would keep most of your die-hard hockey fans (Montreal Canadiens fans notably). The idea is to broadcast games from the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs, that would show the Montreal Canadiens prospects in action. That would keep your viewer ratings a lot higher than a rediffusion of a Pool game or even old Team Canada games. We don't know what you have planned to do in details yet to replace the NHL games in your schedule, but we, the viewers, feel like we should have our word in what should be shown.

That 70's show time, let's work on this later

I sent the following message to RDS:

"Bonjour, suite au recent Lock-out dans la LNH, je me demandais si
RDS allait diffuser des match des Bulldogs de la ligue americaine, je
connais de nombreuses personnes qui seraient TRES interessees en plus
de
moi.

Merci!"

I got this response:

"Rien n'est encore décidé pour le moment. La programmation alternative
sera
établie au cours des prochaines semaines. Nous transmettrons votre
suggestion aux personnes concernées.

Au plaisir,

Service à l'auditoire - RDS"

So if lots of people ask for it....it just might happen!
