Kid is the nephew of Terry Crisp, so there's some Flyers connection there as well...
Oh, and I'm not one who normally mind when a team runs up the score... but when the other team has a skater in net? That's kind of a dick move, really.

I thought so as well watching the "highlights" on the main board. But they weren't celebrating the goals, and after the finals whistle, the entire Niagra team went down the length of the ice and each congratulated Crisp. Made me all tingly inside. I love being a hockey fan.

Yep, the onus for dickheadedness lies firmly on Niagara's coach's shoulders, not the players.
The media, the players, and the crowd all deserve praise for their actions (Crisp was named first star) yesterday, but most of all Crisp deserves all the accolades he's receiving for stepping up when his team needed him and having the guts to play in net. He made 32 saves against a very, very good team and has become part of OHL history forever.
It was awesome to see. It's this kind of thing that makes junior hockey so great.

The announcers (not sure with team they're affiliated with) mentioned Crisp had been injured for most of/all of the season. Do you know if that was that his first appearance back? If so, that shouldn't go overlooked.

It was his first game this year. He had shoulder surgery at the beginning of the season.
I apologize on behalf of the OHL for the announcers in any video you see. They're subhuman.

The kid handled himself very well today on NHL Live.

He actually said he was the one doing all the chirping during the game. It was good to see how he was congradulated after the game. If he is anything like his uncle then he did a whole lot of yapping during the game.

He really did. He must have spent all day yesterday talking with various and assorted press, and sounded like a pro. He's having fun with it, and will have a very cool story to tell his grandchildren one day!
How has Brandon Manning looked this year? His statline seems to be trending upwards.
I guess the answer to that is "better than I thought" since he just got called up. Good for him to go from injured most of the year to called up after only a half season or so of pro hockey exposure.
Cousins has been unreal in the Soo... averaging close to or above 2 points per game last 10-15 games. People dont realize, he has no linemates... right now he has Broll (5 goals) and Fritsch (10-12, real good player, but injured all year).... put Cousins with a couple of top wingers who can keep up, he would be top 2-3 no problem.
He also has played great two way this year, doing PK now. He does tend to dive a bit, is a great chirper, and can agitate everyone... I remember him even talking on twitter about how he tells the refs to keep their helmets buckled up.... he has an unique skill set, and really controls the pace when he is on the ice. Probably the best Hound pure skill wise since Trevor Daley.
Nik Cousins is going to be a great addition to the flyers i sure hope they dont trade him. Hes having at great year so far for the Soo 32G 48A 80Pts to go with 80 pim. What makes me love this guy is all the hate he gets from other team fans some guy called him Avery Jr but he brings a better all round games.

I'm a big Nick Cousins mark. No doubt about it. He's one of those guys that's just good at everything he does. I've been a big fan from day one and love what he brings to the table.
He won't be a center in Philadelphia though. He's going to be moved to the wing. The center positions are set right now. However, Cousins will be more effective as a winger than a center. Right now, his one flaw is that his defensive game needs to catch up with his offensive game. Playing him on the wing will cover up some of his defensive short comings.
The good news though is that Cousins has shown a knack for scoring goals. As much as some claim the Flyers don't have any potential 40 goal scorers in the system, Cousins and Ranford will more than fit the bill. Yes, Ranford still needs to work on his skating some, but his skating has improved dramatically since his draft year, so he should be alright.
Anyways, lots of good looking prospects in the system and Cousins is probably at the top of the list. Good for him too.

In fairness though, he was called up because there is basically no one left. The dumb decision to waive Oskars Bartulis and his $600K salary, along with trading Marshall for some reason, and Bourdon getting hurt forced the Flyers to go that far into the Phantoms.
Skeji, Koekkoek, Maatta, and Thrower are all in the 35-55 range in Craig Button's latest list. Unfortunately so is Hyka THE WORLD KNOWS ABOUT IT HIM NOW!

Still not sure why the decision to waive Bartulis was dumb. He didn't make the team, so he goes down. Period. Gus beat him out for the 6/7 spot, and Lilja is a 35+ and I hope most people on here will admit he's playing great for us lately and is the kind of guy you can put on the ice in a playoff game, unlike Oskars.
Marshall was clearly moved to create room on the Phantoms for the developing guys (Manning, Lauridsen, Kessel) who still have a hope of a full-time NHL career. Plus, they knew they'd be adding a couple vet D at the deadline, and would be sending Bourdon and Gus back - with Walker, Bartulis, Jancevski, et al, there were just too many bodies.
Guys like Marshall you just cut bait, he's never going to be a regular. They clearly weren't going to qualify him, so you send him away for a forward you need.
I really hope the Flyers offer him a contract and convince him to come over to North America. Leighton, Bacashihua and Backlund are all UFAs this off season and I don't see why the Flyers would re-sign any of them. That leaves Hovinen, Heeter and Stewart (maybe?) as far as goalie depth goes. If signed Eriksson would be the youngest and most skilled of the group. Maybe I'm mistaken but a couple years back I thought the Flyers were higher on Eriksson then Bob. What changed? I've been following him for several years now and it seems as if he has succeeded at every level as well as shown some good improvement year to year and so at 21-22 yrs old I can't see development as the issue.
Didn't we forget to re-sign him because of mismanagement of the contracts? Or did we just not want him? Would like to have him back, but for some reason, I find it unlikely.

it wasnt management's fault we couldnt sign him
he was undrafted, but he played in Europe the previous season
