Who was Giroux trying to cover before Richards scored? Terrible defense.

Rangers up 3-2 now.

SO do the refs wants Philly to tie this up or something? Some awful reffing right here.

Blown interference call on JVR ramming McDonagh into the net...call goes to McDonagh for Delay of game...and non call on Timonen hook on Gaborik on a break away....

I like the holding the stick call. It seems to be getting out of hand lately.

I'm glad the Flyers lost. That PS was ********. But, Lundy came up big. Hartnell is a punk.

Refs were certainly trying to help Philly get it to OT man.....some REAL borderline calls at best...and a couple straight bonehead calls.

Gotta hurt for the Flyers. Bad goaltending helped take them out of it, and then #1 goaltending on the other end of the ice closed the door on them. Must sting.

Holmgren should probably think about investing in a goaltender, i suggest he trades Giroux to the Kings to clear room to sign Vokoun

Happy that Schenn finally scored his first goal but also happy that the flyers lost.

Now the real hockey game is coming up at 7:30pm.

And Lavi says that Montreal get favored calls.

I think the PS was legitimate, but the two hooking calls by timonen, one uncalled, one with a matching penalty were kind of ********.

I think both calls were legitimate. Callahan definitely dove and embellished; however, it is a call that officials usually swallow their whistles on so late in the game. It was slightly obvious that they were looking for a way to make the game more entertaining and were willing to make calls that favored Philly, but at the same time, it is not like there weren't calls to make, because the defenseman covered the puck in the crease and Callahan certainly embellished the call.

There just needs to be more consistency. Both are calls where the referees usually look the other way on late in a game, but decided not to this time around because they favored the Flyers and this was the Winter Classic. The next game they referee in won't have such favorable whistles down the stretch. Unless they are headed to Montreal...

Of course he would. We get stuck watching the same teams over again. The winter classic is already overrated by the media. It's only going to get worse.

If Bettman had his way it would be the Ragers vs either the Habs, the Leafs or the Wings every year. The guy hasn't even an inkling of a clue that there are teams on the west coast with the exception of the Nucks and that is only because they are a Canadian team.

F Bettman.

I doubt the NHL would ever have a Canadian team in the Classic. They're trying to appeal to Americans.

And as much as we'd all love to see the Kings in one of these games, it's just never going to happen. Big market North East teams make the most sense from a marketing perspective.

It's going to be a revolving door of these teams:
Rangers
Capitals
Penguins
Flyers
Blackhawks
Red Wings
Bruins

Maybe the Wild get one, or possibly the Sabres get another.

I could see the Avs maybe getting one too.

On a side note, why is Tortorella such a dick in his post games? He is going with the NBC/Ref conspiracy.

It's just like free agency. The big names are mostly concentrated in the northeast. A big event like this game will be concentrated in the northeast. It's just the reality of the NHL universe. Part of the reason for the new alignment was so that the western teams can knock each other out, and there will be only 1 team from the mountain and pacific time zones to worry about.
