Comparison: "I want to be my own player; I don't compare my style to an NHL player."
Best asset: "My bread is my legs, and I have good hands, just not as good as [Alex Galchenyuk]."
Where do you need improvement: "Can never do enough to become all-around better player."
NHL Central Scouting: "His first step and ability to control bouncing pucks, knock them down and make a play are the best of any of the guys in the draft, in my opinion," Central Scouting's Chris Edwards said. "He really gets up to top speed very quickly and his hands our outstanding. Like Pavel Bure, Yakupov is dangerous every shift. He may not have been dominant on every shift like Bure was, but he created something every shift … you have to be aware where he is on the ice all
Central Scouting once again brings up the Bure comparison. The idea of having another Pavel Bure in the NHL is phenomenal. Is Nail as explosive and quick as Pavel was? I'm sure his hands, combined with his speed, will make him an incredibly exciting player to watch. I'd like to know if he can reach Bure-level speeds, though.

Thank god CS finally noticed, this guy 100% reminds me of Bure, hes gonna be great for Columbus becuase he brings fans outta their seats.

Here is a 10 min highlights from 2 last seasons. U can see his very entertaining player but i don't think he is as fast as Bure was, and don't think he will be either. I think he will be an exiting player n his own way.
Pavel Bure had two or three gears more than everyone in the league at the time, deadly shot - Yapukov has that- and incredible dangling skills around the net, moves that nobody can do even today..
Yapukov has only one of the three features of Bure but he's way more physical. The comparaison to a 5"11 Ovechkin is more accurate i believe.

the central scouting folks have obviously forgotten how dominant pavel bure was. if anyone could point out to me a time when pavel bure was dominated by a playoff opponent the way yakupov just was by saginaw, i'm all ears! he was crap. plain and simple. i saw it with my own eyes. pavel bure? give me a break...

RNH got completely shut down last year against Medicine Hat. RNH did fine this year...
Nail is going to look dynamite on the Oilers next year. Hopefully Tambellini doesn't f this up. The only thing I don't like about the kid is the celly's. He needs to tone that down a bit in the NHL.
With Edmontons young team, these guys will be all competing for the top 6: Hall, Eberle, RNH, Hemsky, Gagner, Jonesy.
Do Edmonton fans think that with all that youth in the top 6 and no need to inject talent right away to ice a solid offensive team that Yakupov could be sent back to Sarnia?
As a sting fan, I see Galchenyuk coming back after missing almost this whole year.
With Yakupov (maybe), Galch, Murphy, Spooner etc I think they will be poised to go very deep

Edmonton is going to do whatever makes their team better this year and going foward. Yakupov has nothing more to prove at the Junior level and they're a better team with him on their roster.
It's nice to dream, as an OHL fan, about what could be where high-end prospects are concerned. I remember when I was hoping both Kane and Gagner would be back with London.. they would have destroyed the league (again).
Unfortunately (for ELC reasons) a player of that calibre will not be sent down to junior. Almost with exception, the #1 pick goes on to play in the NHL.
