If he actually ends up on the Ducks, that would be the most insane young forward core in the league. Getzlaf, Perry, Yakupov, Ryan, Etem, Palmieri, Holland, DSP . . . that's a pretty nuts amount of young forward talent. Though they may actually be better off with Grigorenko from a fit point of view, because currently they've got 1 elite young C (Getzlaf) and 2 elite young wingers (Perry and Ryan), and among their top forward prospects only 1 is a C (Holland), while 3 are wingers (Etem, Palmieri, DSP). A second elite center is probably a better fit than yet another winger, though obviously if they do end up picking 1st overall (I doubt it, but you never know) they have to go with whoever they feel is the BPA, regardless of position.
I will say that Yakupov is one damn sexy prospect. I just wish he were bigger, but he looks like an absolute stud. I personally think he would look best in an Islanders uniform.

It would obviously be a great core of Forwards, but Getzlaf and Perry aren't young anymore. Both turn 27 by the end of the this NHL season ; hardly young anymore. DSP isn't really a likely scoring forward at the NHL level either.
I think we can all safely say we hope Columbus doesn't take Yakupov. I find it almost inconcievable that they'd actually take Grigorenko either.

Dude...I'd rather see him in a Columbus jersey than a Carolina or New York. No offense to those clubs. But a player like this should go to the West. All the biggest marketable players (superstars) play in the East.
Although playing in the West could just end up hurting Yakupov's marketability.
only 2 points less than the hurricanes, and the ducks have played 3 less games, so they wont be last for long
Plus, Skinner and Pitkanen are out for God knows how long. I don't see the Hurricanes managing much of anything with their best forward and defenseman out.
Right, but did you ever stop to consider the need for Yakupov to adapt to the North American style of game? I doubt he picked it up right away.
Well they were both rookies. They obviously both had to adapt differently. Going from Minor Midget to OHL hockey isn't easy, neither is coming from Russia to North America. I was merely trying to say it's not a fair comparison due to their difference in ages.
As for the bolded. He definitely did. He took the OHL by storm last year. 10 points in his first 5 games, 29 in his first 15.
All this talk about the Ducks and the Jackets... Folks realize the Islanders are in this league correct? Therefore, I think it is safe to say with the first pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft the New York Islanders are proud to select....

As an Isles fan, don't you know that even if we finish last... we'll be picking 2nd. That is the type of luck this organization has. Yakupov will be skating alongside Tavares only if Grigorenko is selected #1.

Any team but Columbus, please dear god. I want this kid to have a chance at a good career. The hockey fan inside me will die a little if he ends up there.
Ducks and Canes wouldn't be to bad. Ducks would be incredible really, he would have a chance to play with some good young talent with decent ownership.

Unless Columbus actually turns the corner and becomes a true building team. If it is going to be the same old circus there then yeah his draft to Columbus would be a crying shame. However if the organization gets its collective head out its ass he could be a cornerstone to build on and redemption for so many missed development cases.
No 27 isn't remotely young in relative terms. That is 8 possible NHL seasons.
In what sport is 27 considered young? Golf, Snooker, Darts .... Sports that require high levels of physical ability and stress, 27 isn't close to being "young". Has nothing to do with HF, clearly you just don't understand the meaning inf young in relation to sports.
