Flames need to get younger and this does help.
Not a bad pick up.

Can I re-post my Barry Horowitz gif of patting myself on the back for calling this one?!

Seriously, though, it makes a lot of sense. Sutter and Feaster both like Western Canadian kids. I'd also say this likely makes a Bourque deal much more likely now.

I called this one yesterday as well on here and someone argued me saying this wasn't going to happen so to our good guesses!

Wow I didnt see Calgary picking him up, although I am not surprised. Hopefully he can turn it around and be a nice fit in Calgary

I hope this kid can get it together. Looks like he has promise, but by the numbers he seems to have been crapping the bed pretty badly this season.

Calgary now has less than 1 million in cap space.

No surprise that CGY wanted him, but a little surprised that both CBJ and ANA passed

I don't see this hurting the Flames. They need to try whatever they can. The flames certainly like being right up against the cap though.

Guy scored 24 goals last year, what were the Islanders doing giving him away for free?

good pick up for Calgary. low risk for a guy that might turn out to be a player.

Many players score 24 goals in a season and then go on to do jack the rest of their career. I'm betting Comeau is in that mold after watching him all season. He was being out played by Bailey Rolston Pandolfo AND Reasoner. That should tell you something.

Well hopefully this amounts to something good then. I'll hold out on judging this move until I see him play.

Would you rather have:

Hagman @ $3.0M caphit

or

Comeau @ $2.5M caphit
Hagman @ $1.5M caphit

You've got to wonder if that's the case. He certainly feels like a cheaper option to one of Iginla, Bourque, Glencross etc.

Both come off the books at the end of the year, and both are useless this year. Unless that extra 500k is the difference between calling up some 4th liner from Abbotsford or not.

I know it's not a long term concern, but I would have rather just kept Hagman @$3M caphit than Comeau @ $4M caphit.

If I was a Flames fan I would take a wait and see approach as far as Comeau's contributions are concerned. Frankly, based on this year's performance I would be leary of replacing any of the the 3 players you mentioned with Comeau.

Calgary is probably the perfect situation if you discount the team is crappy.

Lots of guys on Calgary that play a grinding, crash and bang game and it will likely open up a lot of space for Comeau.
