To be fair, I doubt Smitty would produce at this pace with any other team. He bleeds orange and blue, and it's showing this year.

As an addendum, I'm eating a ton of crow about Smitty's production this year. I thought he'd be a 30-40 point guy for us with some PK time, and he's blowing that out of the water. Can't believe how good he's been in every zone.

It's called analysis.
+9 for Read while Nuge is only +3. Read will win the Calder and has an inside track on the Emery Edge Award too...

Great to see the Oilers finally get that monkey off their bats. Minnesota is not that dominant. Smyth geez what more needs to be said about this guy, unbelievable. Isn't it wonderful to have two scoring lines, not so easy for teams to match. Anyways I believe it is almost time to retire my Herm Edwards avatar, the Oilers are playing to win games and in the process building a team that could legitimately challenge for the cup within two to three years, just need a top four defenseman.

Kopitar can't do all the work.

But yeah, I'll chalk up Smytty's career resurgence to the simple fact that he loves playing for this team and these types of comebacks aren't all together rare for smart offensive players around the age of 34-35 that understand their niche.

RNH's shot differential dictates he's obviously terrible at defence. Look at that goal against. BUST

And proof positive that the hockey scribes aren't any more intelligent than the average dedicated fan, on average.

I don't usually twist the knife after a trade but right now Smyth has more points than anyone on the Kings.

He averages just over two shots a game. Bust.

If I were a Kings fan, I would be pretty pissed Smyth never played anything like he is now.

EDIT: I still thought Smyth played very well for the Kings in their two playoff showings though, especially the 1st round last year.

I don't feel sorry for Kings fans in the slightest. Last year and the year before they were crying about needing a first line LW.

Would Smyth be playing like this on the Kings? Probably not. But his production speaks for itself.

Some guys just seem born to play for certain teams. Linden and the Canucks, Robitaille and the Kings, etc. Smyth never looked right in anything other than an Oilers jersey (well, a Team Canada jersey, sure )

I just checked the LA board. No threads on Smyth but apparently Moreau has been taking a lot of bad penalties for them.
