Some guys just seem born to play for certain teams. Linden and the Canucks, Robitaille and the Kings, etc. Smyth never looked right in anything other than an Oilers jersey (well, a Team Canada jersey, sure )
Although Smyth probably would have won a Richard with the Sedins.
And were the first two periods super long or was that just because of the lecture going on in the background?
I don't feel sorry for Kings fans in the slightest. Last year and the year before they were crying about needing a first line LW.
Would Smyth be playing like this on the Kings? Probably not. But his production speaks for itself.
I think his production is due to a perfect match with the kids' style of play. His gritty hard-nosed play at the net is very complementary to the high skill game of RNH and Hallsy.
Hall-Horc-Hemsky(+6, 5pts) owned the Koivu line (-9, 2pts) tonight.
HHH and the Nuuuu World Order
HHH, Nuuuu World Order featuring the KLIQ............the Heartbreak kid Shawn Horcoff, and one half of the Outsiders.......HALL and .........damn we need Rick Nash on this team.
PS.....I haven't watched wrestling in at least 10 years.....any of those guys still around lol?
If only smytty was younger. Could shot gun for many years
true.
but just to have him back, has been so awesome.
then to have him playing this well? I couldn't be happier. he's given the oilers back their mojo.
I was expecting Nuge to go to All Star Weekend and play in the young stars game but if he keeps playing this well than he deserves to sit at the adult table.

The big negative though is if we keep playing like that we won't get a chance to draft a D-man in the top-5 of this draft. And trading for a first pairing D-man may be a tall order. I no longer favor Larsson over RNH but we still need a D-man.
The big positive is that the Oilers and the Flames are progressing in opposite directions.

D-Men in the top 5 are often crapshoots so really I don't care.
At this rate, Hedman will probably become available on the trade market soon.

We have a lot of assets to use in trade. Don't worry. Also, this draft is deep enough that pick in the teens wouldn't be so bad.

The 2012 draft has defensemen everywhere.
Outside of the Top-10, we're looking at Ceci, Reinhart, Koekkeok, Maata and Ebert.
We can grab a sweet defenseman and still make the playoffs.
who'da thunk it - it took a friday afternoon game on American thanksgiving to break us out of the Minny funk that was anything but mini.
I watched Oil Change overdrive again last night and watching Hall and Nugent meet on stage for the first time (in minnesota) gave me a good feeling about today's game!
this team is still learning and they are learning by winning! (bi-winning)!
I love how they comment on '4 points' for the kids when they had a combined 6 didn't they? And Hemmer gets 3rd star with one assist over Ebs and Hopper? Whaaa?
Yeah this made no sense, except i dont think nuge had a 3 star worthy performance. Between Eberle and Khabby

He could be, hes just so smart. Pretty much indefensible.

Yeah i have no clue what they are doing with him, they are ruining him right now.

I so very highly doubt this, their D is as thin as ours, and hes still very young with tons of upside.

Our track record of trading for or signing D-men is unimpressive. That being said, you have a valid point about drafting D-men outside top-5.

I am concerned that we may squander these good assets in a quality-out quantity-in trades. My faith in management is not fully restored yet. The Penner trade was a good indicator though. And bringing Smythie back was a high mark as well.
