What bugs you about the NHL?

me, 4 things.

1. Announcers saying "blue ice" instead of "crease". Always has been a crease, always will be, say crease dammit. I have a conspiracy theory about this. I think your highness Bettman issued a decree to all networks to dumb things down for casual American viewers.

2. When a goal is scored they go by their bench and high five everyone. Shouldn't 12 year olds being doing this and not professionals?

3. After a team wins they all go headbutt their goalie. Christ sakes, be original, do something else.

4. Homer announcers, Boston being the worst, worst miscreants ever foisted on public airwaves.

1. I've never heard the term 'blue ice' before, who says that?
2. That bugs you so much?
3. Well you've already outlawed high fives and handshakes are hard to do in hockey gloves, so I don't know what you expect.
4. Local companies hiring announcers to cheer for the product they're trying to sell...I don't like it any more than you do, but it makes sense.

To answer your question...the Philadelphia Flyers' continued existence.

I think that you're letting your hatred of Bettman blind you to reason.

I've never heard "blue ice" used, and the first example brought up in the thread was from Jets announcers. Why would "his highness Bettman" tell the Jets announcers to dumb things down for casual American viewers?

Refs that stop calling penalties in the 3rd periods of close games.

Fans that shout "let them play" when the refs start calling penalties.

Atleast your 100% honest lol.

And for #2

At one point in one of the two leagues I played in it was an unsportmenlike penalty for going to the bench like that after scoring. IDK why and I see nothing wrong with pros doing it. Rather have that then one of OV's hardcore goal cellies.

More dives are called than actual penalties. Players who work their ***** off, who stay on their feet through a hook, hold, slash, etc aren't rewarded.

What constitutes a penalty changes from period to period.

Make up calls, on previous calls that weren't already stupid enough.

Penalties called on broken or dropped sticks.

Players who threaten to hurt the game, by taking hitting out of it, because they somehow can't stop themselves from throwing dirt.

Whinebag fans who think everything is dirty, and should just watch baseball.

Pierre Mcguire. I'd pay money to see him take a slapshot on the glasses. I take that back. Right in the melon, while talking, and if I'm writing the check, I want super slomo.

Just out of curiosity, what's everyone's problem with the 2-ref system?
