A bit off-topic, but I know how you feel. My favorite team in Finnish SM-Liiga sweeps table with all the top teams, especially on the road, but man can they suck when they play at home against teams that they should win more than easily.

The good news? Make playoffs and you don't have to face those bad teams anymore. So theoretically the championship is a sure thing

Anyway, I got to say that even if I have never been a huge fan of Oilers, I have lately began to really hope they will do well. Very exciting young team and if Svensson is now scratched, their stock in my eyes raises exponentially.

ELLIOT ELLIOT ELLIOT ELLIOT ELLIOT!!!!!

Seriously though, so happy to hear he was called up, this could end up being awesome for us, especially if he plays close to the level of Shatty last year! Very excited for this game now, cant wait to see how he plays!

It would be nice to see Obyrne sit for a game. He has really struggled this season.

I really hope Elliott is playing tonight. He just got called up, so maybe Sacco wants him to learn the "system" a little better first. LOL.

Like I asked on that Elliott thread, why hasn't Dater said anything about Elliott being called up?

I'm sure he can adapt to dump and chase

I think I'd rather see Hejda sit for a game or two...he's been making more mistakes than O'Byrne, IMO.

Better let Elliot play right away before he is impurified.

Elliott is called up? Citation needed.

I see nothing about it on the AHL transactions page.

Nor from Dater nor from Avalanche.com nor from TSN. I really doubt he was called up without any bigger news.

Twitter has a bunch of mentions, but apart from the fact that he didn't play in the Monsters last game I see nothing that would indicate he's been called up. At this point I'd say if it hasn't been confirmed, it hasn't happened and Elliott is probably injured or sick.

EJ has been placed on IR according to the Avalanche roster. The chances Elliott was called up just increased significantly.

Maybe. With Sacco's love for Hunwick, though, he'll probably get the spot. Especially since he laid out a few hits last game.

Personally, I don't expect to see Elliott in the lineup.

It is official Stefan Elliott has been re-called:

From the Avs Official twitter:

I hope we don't go with seven defenders. If you are going to give the kid a chance, do so properly.

Lost 5-2 to Ottawa where we sucked and 4-1 to Dallas earlier this week where we were terrible. Dallas had lost 5 straight and then beat us. 3 out of the last 4 games have been solid with 9-2, 6-2 and 5-2 wins over the Hawks, Preds and Wild, but by no means is the game this afternoon a sure thing. If we play how we did in those 3 games I like our chances, but that is the thing.....will we? I expect a close game. Sucking or not as a team, Duchene/Landeskog/Stastny/Hejduk......those guys can create offense and are dangerous. Game can go either way IMO. Oh and Colorado is the only of the 4 other teams in the NW that is tolerable IMO. Calgary and Vancouver are my 2 most hated teams in the league in that order and Minnesota just annoys me.
Sad that we've become a team that other teams should win against. Oh well

lol. Sacco and a system in one sentence?

The only thing Elliott is gonna learn from Sacco is how to turn pucks over while trying to do too much, and unfortunately lose his first game being called up.

We'll probably go with 7 defenders and Elliot will play on the 4th line as LW

Thinking like Sacco here

Even if somehow Avs win this game, then lose another 2 or 3 in a row, there is no way they will make the playoffs.

They are already 7 points behind the 8th place, even win one lose one will not be enough for this team to make the playoffs.

The only way this team will make the playoffs is with a coaching change and a hot streak. I don't see them winning even two games in a row under Sucko. Hell, they might not even win one game until they play a bad team like the Jackets, or the Isles again (if they play the Isles again)

Take a check into past standings. When was the last time a team made playoffs with equal amount of wins and losses? Especially if a loss can't be assumed to bring points (see, Colorado Avalanche 2011-12 divisional game record).

I know, I was just saying that while Sacco is still coaching the Avs, the best they MIGHT do is win one lose one, and that's even unlikely.

7 points back now, they have to start winning 4 or 5 games in a row, and that's just not gonna happen with that dumb ass behind the bench
