blowing up the team is stupid. You have to at least give it a shot at fixing things with a new voice.

Most analysts felt this team should be good enough to contend. I don't think letting a new voice step in is the worst thing.

This is one of the things that is more frustrating about GMGM. He is very difficult to read so we don't know if he has a new coach with a contract waiting to be signed or he has no intention of replacing BB at all. There is no reason for a team this talented to show this little effort.

I see 2 things that need be done. Fire BB and trade Semin. BB has lost the team and Semin has proven he is just not going to be what this team needs enough to take up the roster spot let alone the paycheck.
Why the heck would you do both at the same time rather than give Semin a chance with a new coach? This team is demoralized and IMHO the effort or lack thereof is a reflection of that rather than guys not caring. I don't think they believe in BB, and rightly so.

That was far from a dominant or statement making 7-0 run. Wins are wins but that record flattered their overall game.

The problem I have is, I doubt they're flat against Pittsburgh, no matter how they've been playing.

I could have sworn I was using that quote for a few games in my "fire Hanlon" rants on this board in arguments with his defenders. But who knows.

kcarrera: Boudreau "It’s got to come from within I’ve got to believe. I’m hoping that’s got to come from within.... #Caps

kcarrera: Boudreau continued: "...because if I’ve got to teach it them how to be [mentally] tough, then I don’t know quite how to do that." #Caps

Well, it's been fun.

It was the game prior. It was also said later that Hanlon didn't really know what to practice the day he was canned. Kind of get that sense now given the state of their game. That's the sort of entropy that has to build up for McPhee to get off his ass.

Could see them parting mutually. BB still gets paid even if he's fired, if another team picks him up then either they pick up the tab or both them and the Caps pay him (think that was the deal when Sutter left NJ for Calgary). And given his track record teams that just want to make the playoffs would be salivating. He's probably on the Isles or Avs within a week. Can't imagine it being fun coaching a room of guys that you can see don't believe in you. This would be just his way of setting up a good exit.

Either now or you give him to Ottawa.

I think he might get a few more whether he deserves it or not

Just was able to watch last few minutes of caps post game. Tactic was to try to slow game down and "sneak" in a goal in first period. Wow... Really Bruce? Vs AHL team?

Im assuming you mean the guy wearing the C and not the other C (coach)

poor breakouts....starts with 8

poor defensive coverage....starts with 8

inconsistent play in net....starts with 8

bad turnovers in bad locations....starts with 8

Poor line changes creating too many men calls....it all starts with 8

that seems easy to fix then, im sure someone would trade for him. That way they could sew a letter on a different players sweater and things would be lolipops and gumdrops all over again

coaching an NHL team must be the least pressure job you can have...seeing how nothing is really your responsibility

I was able to go to the game and three things stood out (although none of them are new):
1. Hamrlik is awful
2. Schultz is awful
3. We give up so many 3 on 2's its absurd!

Oh yea and Wideman has been really sucking at the whole defense thing

Way to completely miss the context of my post.

My comment had nothing to do with any tactical or execution issues (which are certainly there) and everything about the heart and guts of the team. Thanks for posting a bunch of stuff we see 5 others posting daily. Still carrying a grudge so you come trolling me? Funny...

Because IMO his next new coach should be on another team. He has shown that he is more often a problem than a solution for this team. Let finding a way to consistently motivate Semin be another teams problem.

Believe me, I'd love to see Schultz and Hamrlik in the same cab to the airport but until we start getting D healthy again we can't do that.

we'll know by Wed......theres no way he gets fired after the Pitts game(GMGM wouldn`t give the Pens that satisfaction)...its either tomorrow,Monday or following a loss against the Blues.
