What Chico said summed up my feelings when Kovy took the unsportsmanlike

"part of being a professional is being able to control emotions in situations like this"

Deboer really needs to keep the old men line together and essentially change everything else. At some point the coach has to put the players in a situation to succeed in.

It is one of the worst, most inexcusable (because like I said, Grabner's poaching insanity was hardly a secret at this point of the game) turnovers I've EVER seen. It shouldn't happen at any level of hockey
I'm not going to justify Kovy's turnover, but three goals were scored tonight. The first goal, Andy Greene tried a ridiculous whack at a bouncing puck that led to a 2-on-1. Greene turned it back into a 2-on-2 and got fooled. His terrible play for that five second stretch led to a goal.

On the second goal, Tedenby watched Josh Bailey creep into the slot and did nothing about it.

Yet I see no mention of their names. Hmmm...

And Chico won't say anything negative about a Devil, even if they were losing 162 to -2.

he erased one of his mistakes, not all, and we still won. Kovalchuk is to blame and so is the rest of the team, I guess besides Moose.

Dont get me wrong im not saying that the Kovalchuk play was acceptable by any means, cause it was **** as **** can be. I'm not a Kovy Boner hugger like some, but did you count how many times we connected on 3 consecutive passes this game? It was enough to fit on one hand...and yes me and my friend counted in section 229 row 9. The TEAM did not play well...and not enough credit is being given to the isles for the game they played.

KOVALCHUK WAS HOLDING THE PUCK PLAYING POINT ON THE PP, 10 FEET FROM THE NET. THIS IS NOT A POSITIONAL MISTAKE, THIS IS NOT A DEFENSIVE MISTAKE. THIS IS GARBAGE.

I don't think the Isles played that well other than Grabner

Larsson looked fine today but that might just be because Andy Greene had his worst game of his career and made Larsson look good.

I found 3 praising Larsson's great play and we have at least 2 that said he wasn't great. I also add in Matt and Sherry so I have a 4 to 3 count in favor of not great.

The geezer line may have to be split up somewhat to get things fully on track once Zajac gets back.

Parise will eventually get the goals. He has been oh so close for a few games now.

Kovalchuk is extremely down and far from confident. It's tough seeing a player doing what he's doing. One of the most talented guys you'll ever see. Built like a machine. He'll get it going eventually.

It was a weird game to watch. I thought they did some good things when the Islanders had the puck in the Devils zone. Not many high quality scoring chances in those cycle and possession situations. They were absolutely torched with breakaway passes and a few odd-man rushes.

4 game trip upcoming will be tough. Colorado is explosive offensively but very beatable. Minnesota has played well this year and Winnipeg is on a roll, especially at home. Toronto has always given us problems. Take 2 of 4, maybe lose one in OT or SO and that would be a good trip, in my opinion.

Send down Sestito and call Zharkov back up. Put Zharkov with Henrique and Kovalchuk. That would give that line a stronger defensive presence plus Zharkie has the speed to keep up with those two. Put Zach with Carter and Clarkson, when Zajac gets back he fills in for Carter.

Kovalchuk-Henrique-Zharkov
Parise-Cater (Zajac)-Clarkson
Zubrus-Elias-Sykora

Now you have distributed scoring over three lines and hopefully that gets both Kovalchuka and Parise going.
I agree......Kovi and Zach play best as LEFT wings, and since Kovi will be here forever, let him and Henrique work together, and when Zajac comes back, put him with Zach, to make him happy and get his game back...leave the Elias line alone....they've got chemistry,

You can caps lock all you want. You still have yet to acknowledge the goals given up by Greene or Tedenby, which effectively proves my point.

And still beat us in regulation and were a bounce or two from the same yesterday. That's the worrying part.

Like I said after the 1st in the GDT thread, as an opposing fan Grabner scares me more than any other player on their team.

they were not great, but they played better than the other team. That's all that really matters.

I'm sorry if I came off as an attacking doucher, that was not my intention, it wasnt even aimed at you in particular, you just kept quoting me so i took the lazy way out. I just don't understand how any game can be won or lost based on one player. It's just not fair. And I would of said the same thing for another player

You have no point. You think you have a point.

This was not a defensive mistake, that's the part that isn't getting through your thick skull, it's a pathetic mental error. It's not something you tap the guy on his ass and say "you'll get them next time", it makes you want to break a stick over his head.

No it doesn't. There's no excuse for Kovalchuk to do what he did at that score and time. I'm fine with physical mistakes but Kovalchuk's mistakes today were mental and it killed the team.

You wanted to make it into a numbers calling game, I was just discussing the play as I saw it.

Feel free to disagree, but that doesn't make your opinion somehow valid and everyone else idiots. I prefer to talk about the game, not posters names and how many said what, but that's just me.

We also need to change the d pairings around. Volchenkov and Salvador can't stay together.

Tallinder-Larsson
Volch-Greene
Salvador Fayne
