Best Game since Europe

the good
- most complete game in a LONG time
- Sekera was a monster
- All 4 lines were rolling

the bad
- Roy and Vanek were outplayed by the new Rochester core
- Grags still looks out of place, even with a depleted blue line

the awesome
- Lindy Ruff turning the team around after Columbus

The good: Absolutely everything.

The yet to be seen: Can they do that again the next game?

Really, really impressed with that effort.

ugly:

Ovechkin sitting out the final powerplay. Boudreau has to go, that franchise is built around Ovechkin.

I thought Gragnani played his best game of the year, he looked solid. Whether that is because we won by so much, or because the caps were so lazy, who knows?

Rookies were great today, just beautiful. Good win! Feels like it's been forever.

G:
- Jochen
- Kids
- Enroth looked solid if a little uncertain sometimes
- Harry Neale's wit
- Roy had good push

B:
- Shoulda been a shutout if for one defensive lapse
- Vanek invisible, hasn't been really working well with Hecht

U:
- Could you be more snake bitten Leino? Seriously.

UGLY: Caps should donate their paychecks to charity

Saturday night in Buffalo against a team coming off its worst loss and starting 8 rookies and thats the effort they come up with? yikes

I said this tonight; first 60 minute effort I've seen in forever from this team.
Washington is a much better team than what showed up, but the SabreMerks were pretty solid tonight.

The Good:

Erhoff, McNabb, Kassian, Tropp, Schuzmura (Or however you spell it) , Adam , Brennan , Enroth. Sekera

The Bad: Not sure how to take the game considering The Caps showed less effort then the Sabres did last night.

The Ugly: Me not being able to get over my Grag hate ..even when he played "ok" ..

The Good:

-ROOKIES!! Adam & Tropp in particular looked great tonight. Really hungry on the puck. Great to see BZK grab his first, too.

-Jochen is no longer broken! He is so underrated by some fans. The breakaway goal was just a bonus, great all-around game for him.

-Sekera was a beast out there.

-I liked Leino's game tonight, especially early on. He only had a few dipsy-doodles at the blue line, and wasn't afraid to shoot the puck.

-Enroth bouncing back after a rough night.

-Much needed home win. Kept it simple, were strong on the puck, all-around great effort.

The Bad:

-Nothing really comes to mind. Seriously.

The Ugly:

-The Caps may have played worse tonight than we did last night.

-Alexander Semin.

Tell me what Ovy did tonight to warrant being on the final power play in a 5-1 game?.... Let him sulk if he doesn't want to give the effort.

Adam on pace for around a 30 goal rookie season. Enroth on pace to put up around 30 wins in his rookie season (barring Miller not playing for an extended period). Thats two potential calder nominees in my opinion

UGLY:

-Washington. They didn't even show up tonight. That was a big, big part of the Sabres looking so good tonight.

Good:

-Adam with two.
-Kassian with his first and a bit more physical play.
-Sekera everywhere tonight.
-Erhroff eating minutes.
-Szch with two helpers.
-Enroth locking it down when needed.
-60 minute effort!!!!

Bad:

-Ovechkin. What happened to that guy?
-Gragnani continues to scare me.
-Reffing in the third. Letting a lot go, no?

Just got home from the game. Have to completely disagree with you here. Grags to me looked awful. An absolute liability in our own end and indecisive with the puck.

we watched different games then.

Gragnani was pretty much his usual self... which is a terribly soft, incredibly indecisive defensemen who belongs no where near an NHL blueline

The hilarious:

Contrast the Sabres GBU from last night to the Caps post game tonight.

Almost identical posts about 3 or 4 times so far (fire coach, blow up org etc...)

How things change within 24 hours

Haha, must be the blowout win.

I didn't think he was that bad, some blunders but what's new with him?

Kassian was a beast, laying hits, nice goal, I have big expectations for him in the future.

Sekera was outstanding. The young guys played their hearts out and that got the vets moving too. Nice game all round.

I'd be okay with his blunders if he wasn't the softest defensemen I've ever seen on the puck. Stick checks are all you'll ever get from him, and I can't take watching him miss those on top of his bonehead plays. I think this kid is done. 100% would rather see Brennan in the lineup than Grags.
