Not complaining, but Luke Adam = Michal Grosek? Big forward that shows up and dominates 1 out of 5, 6 games...invisible otherwise.

Still can't believe a preseason game-esque lineup beat the Caps

Who says healthy changes everything?

I cracked up during Lindy's presser when they asked if anyone got hurt in the game and Lindy said he was afraid to ask!

How long before they need to get McKee, Patrick, Adams, and Ruff back in uniform?

Don't forget about Teppo! They could dress him too!

Good game by buffalo, horrible effort (if you can call it that) by Washington. Wonder if they'd be open to an offer for one of their centers to maybe shake up their locker room.

Boudreau and Semin will be gone long before they move one of their centers, especially Backstrom.

Something that popped into my mind right after Kassian scored was Stafford doesn't score that goal (at least not this year). Not because he isn't capable of it but because it's unlikely he takes that shot. He would have tried one more move to try to get past the dman on the outside. Then he would have shot from almost on the goal line. Or he would have tried to cut inside on the dman to get to the middle. Always looking to make that extra move. He is hardly the only one guilty of this.

Listening to Kassian's explaination of what he was trying to do is something Stafford and a few other of our top forwards should be thinking. Kassian just wanted to get the puck on the goalies pads and then crash the net for a rebound. Simple yet effective.

Most of this team tries that "one extra" move, and getting back to basics as you've described is what this team needs.

It doesn't need to be pretty, it just needs to be in the net.

This is what they were doing in the first couple of games this year. I remember the Kings' announcers saying that it was "in every Sabres' players' DNA to crash the net." At the time, I wasn't sure if he was crazy or if the Sabres had really changed their style. For a few games, it looked like they had a new style of creating heavy traffic in the crease, screening the goalies, and fishing for rebounds. That seems to have evaporated somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean on the way home from Europe.

Stafford would have tried a move, dipped his shoulder, and crashed the net. Which is awesome! That's how he scores many of his goals! But his quick wrist shot needs to be used more.

He doesn't always dip his shoulder and crash the net. That's why he only has 4 goals right now.

This is going to be a different team once Kassian and McNabb are regulars. Even if they're not having five hit nights game after game, you have to think their presence will be in the heads of other teams.

Who's going to take runs at the Sabres smaller guys when they have to get on the ice with these two for the rest of the game?

Most of the size and grit they're lacking is already in the system. They just have to get it up here.

Imagine Myers, Regher, Weber, and McNabb all out there in the same game. That's a ton of size back there.

Aside from one hit last night, McNabb didn't look good at all. Kid needs more time

I don't see the comparison between Adam and Grosek. They play/played different games.

I've seen him do it a lot this year, especially lately. The goals just aren't coming like last year.

Agree to disagree.

Last year looks like a fluke at the moment. I highly doubt he has another season with a 17+% shooting percentage.

I agree he needs more time but disagree that he played poorly last night.

He's been pretty miserable this season minus the first two weeks. Even when Roy was buzzing and had 10 points in 6 games it was more Roy and Leino than Stafford. He certainly hasn't crashed the net a lot this year in comparison to last year.

Honestly, the only time I noticed McNabb last night was on a few lazy stick checks and some rough in zone play from him-Brennan. I'm high on him as a prospect, I just think he didn't have a great showing and isn't ready yet. Agree to disagree on his game last night.

Honestly sometimes its better not to notice a dman. So if all you did notice was a couple of mistakes he made, that is kind of a good thing right? Look at regehr, you don't really notice him most of the time untill he plasters a guy to the boards or decides to fight with a guy like chara (still think he's ballsy for that).

Some teams chase goalies...the Sabres chase coaches.

Bye bye Boudreau.

We also caused St. Louis to trade Erik Johnson last year.

The Caps GDT had a lot of rage, something about "AHL team" and "lost 5-1 to CBJ the previous night."

Hey now, when was the last time you saw a #81 for Buffalo on the defensive side of his blue line? I'll take it.
