Winnipeg beat us 3-0 in our own barn. That team doesn't know how to lose at MTS Centre.
And you really think we are going to go to the garden to play the best team in the league and get 3 out of 4 points?
Come on, the Jets, who most were predicting (and they were in Oct and part of November) to be at the bottom of the standings, that are winning 1 goal games? and two 4-2 games this month? Just because we lost to them 3-0 last time doesnt mean you are right. I think that they have a good solid defense, but if the Isles can get some shots on their goalies, they are beatable. I saw a few of the Jets games this month and they did not "dominate" in many of them. Obviously if the Isles continue to dump and chase like they have been the last few games they dont have a great chance.
And with the Rangers, both games are in MSG, but the Isles always play good there. If both those games were at NVMC i probably would have only had us down for a loss and a OTL for 1 point out of 4.

I was at the Jets game on 11/3 at NVMC. The last goal was an empty netter, the second goal was a softy that Ricky let by.
I left the game saying, 'people that look at this score will think it was a blow out.' It was a lot closer than that.
Not to mention we are icing a very different team now. The lack of Rolston, Pandolfo, Comeau, and DP make all the difference in the world. We can definitely pull out a win tomorrow.

Have some faith.
I will have faith when the team stops picking in the top 5 in the draft year after year... after year... after year. You get my drift.
And yes, the Jets were predicted to be at the bottom this year. Actually most had them finishing in 14th. Guess who almost everyone had finishing 15th? That would be the Southeast Division leading Florida Panthers. So yea, preseason predictions can suck it. And who cares if they don't blow out teams? There are 2 teams in the NHL with more home wins than the Jets. They win at home, plain and simple.
since you asked for this the team is 4-3-2 in these last 9 games
Include the game before your request (the 2nd of the home and home at NJD) we are 5-3-2 in 10.
They go 8-4-0 in the next 12 we would be
13-7-2 in 22, then just throw out those 2 loss in OT/SO garbage games.
the next 6 games we got
12/20 WPJ WIN
12/22 NYR OTL
12/23 TML WIN
12/26 NYR WIN
12/29 CAF LOSS
12/31 EDO WIN
They need to Win in Winny, they are too hot recently, we need to beat them, they dont have a good goalie, Mason and Pavalec (sp?) are both beatable, the Jets cant keepon scoring like they have been.
We could lose in a SO to the Rags and beat them 5 days later. In between we could beat Toronto who is coming back from a game the previous night in Buffalo.
and then win one of the Edmonton/Calgary games
That is 4-1-1 in 6 games. They could go 4-2-0 also. The first 6 games in 2012 they could also go 4-2 or 4-1-1
Carolina, Anaheim, Phoenix, Detroit, Phila, Buff
Even if they go 4-2-0 then 4-2-0, there is the 8-4 and they are 13-7-2.
But they need to beat Winny and win in OT or regulation with the Leafs. They could......... Maybe?!??!?
OK, no.......Fail for Nail! Fail for Nail!
I don't think Pavelec has given up a bad goal since October. In the last three weeks he has shut out Phoenix and held Boston, Washington and Minnesota to one goal.
He's been unreal.
The Jets do give up and extraordinary number of good chances against (the Byfuglien effect) and after a so-so start, their goalies (Mason has far exceeded expectations too) have kept them in games.
Get over it, this team is not going 13-7 or 13-7-2... We are not a good team!!! Parcells said "Your record says what you are." 9pts out of Eighth, its not happening!!!
Just want to keep this thread floating through the remainder of it's lifespan. Let's see how this irons out in the end.
Think maybe the "pessimists" were in fact actually "realists" instead yet?
A few more losses and the two game winning streak gets gobbled up and incorporated into the larger slump surrounding it. It's not ending there either. I think there is one more significant slump due in winter.

We will not fail as we hit the trail for Nail.
We are now last in the East, Snow/Wang are on track for another DRAFT PARTY!!!! Another day they could charge for parking and popcorn, the real goal of the season.

And, they will try to raise the ticket prices for next year. Get a clue, Charles! This team is worth more if you do more than say you are rebuilding. We are not asking for another Yashin/Peca thing. Just start by getting us one solid under 30 veteran defenseman.
Please?

No no no, both he and his strawman Snow COMMITTED to turning the corner this season and spending to make the playoffs. You have Chuck all wrong, he clearly expected Reasoner to win the Selke (his bonuses say so), Rolston to get the Richard and win the speed skate at the all star game (his bonuses say so also), and Nino to win the Vezina (Vezina? Norris? Calder? What's the difference when you're Wang? You just need to think outside the box to be a good owner, har har.)
There's a break here, I know no one wants to hear it but the schedule has allowed us to even think about a four game winning streak. Just get me to fifty points by fifty games. 13-17-6 is thirty two points in thirty six games, let's go 9-5 in the next 14 games so we can have a meaningful February, March, April...BTW just came back from Vegas where I put six hundred dollars on my Islanders to win on December 26. I'll be expecting that check in the mail by chuckles and company any day now...When Jurcina hit that post in the first period when it was 0-0 I knew I was screwed. Funny thing is were not all that bad, were just all not that good either...

We can jest, but I bet if we asked them, SnoWang would say that
A) Reasoner was brought in to go 5-15-20 and +10
B) Rolston was expected to be a solid top 9 addition who would bring 12-15-27 and go +5
C) Nino would slowly but surely catch on and go 15-10-25 this year, likely with a minus rating.
I don't think those would be unreasonable expectations coming into the season.
Those things just aren't happening. Having Bailey NOT breaking out, Grabner on pace for only about 15 goals and Okposo having been non-existent for the first 15 games surely wasn't part of anyone's plan and nor should it have been. It was time for them to be doing better and admittedly, right from day 1.
Speaking of Grabner, I fully expected him to have a drop in production, but I thought 25-15-40 was still gonna happen. That speed alone was gonna give it to him. The guy has just been nowhere to be seen for 80% of the games this year. Terribly disappointing.

I don't know about A, as Reasoner wasn't on my radar last year. I'll cede that one to you. Rolston... I can direct you to a number of my posts warning all of you about him. I watched him enough last year to know he would be a huge risk. That guys making a living doing this thought otherwise... shocking, scary, and pathetic. But he's not here for any other reason than to fill the salary cap hole created when Ehrhoff said no thanks. Nino... I expected more than a point in a gazillion games, but I didn't expect much.
Chapin, this season was dead from the get go once they added no one of value. Just look at Streit. He's their answer for a #1 yet he's played like a 3rd pair most of the year. They need significant help on the blue line to start, but that's another discussion for another thread. I can say that if they play many more games like they did tonight against Carolina they will be eaten alive Feb & March.
I always thought that Grabner's year last season was an aberation... He is a decent forward who cannot finish for the speed he possesses (breakaways)... Moulson also a bit of an aberation, without JT he would be slightly below average... I blame Snow/Wang "dumpster diving" gets you maybe cubic zarconia...

In his defense he has more points this year 10 - 6 - 16 Than he did at this time last year 8 - 3 - 11. Thats not to say he will go on a second half run the way he did last year Im just saying maybe he shouldnt be called a fluke just yet. At least give him a full season.
Between now and the deadline, the Isles should know whether they have a true shot at the playoffs.
They are currently in 11th place, 9 points back of Ottawa with 4 games in hand. Not insurmountable by any stretch. At the same time, they are 2 points out of last.
The good news is between now and the deadline, they play 10 games:
Thu Feb 9, 2012 Canadiens Islanders
Sat Feb 11, 2012 Kings Islanders
Sun Feb 12, 2012 Panthers Islanders
Tue Feb 14, 2012 Islanders Jets
Thu Feb 16, 2012 Islanders Blues
Sat Feb 18, 2012 Hurricanes Islanders
Mon Feb 20, 2012 Senators Islanders
Tue Feb 21, 2012 Islanders Sabres
Fri Feb 24, 2012 Rangers Islanders
Sun Feb 26, 2012 Islanders Senators
Two games against 8th place Ottawa, one each against Florida and Winnipeg the teams in 9th and 10th. There are really only two very difficult games in that stretch, the Rangers at home and at St Louis.
This is the season right here. If this team wants to make the playoffs, 7 of 10 is mandatory. If they do that, they could be within 4 or 5 points with six weeks to play. If they don't gain ground during this stretch and are still 9-10 points back, they need to dump any unsigned UFA at the deadline.
I feel weird writing this tonight. But, all this chatter about teams going after Nabakov makes me laugh. Has anyone ever watched that guy during the playoffs?
Without Hammer, Juice and Reese, it maybe tough to improve on this moment. Even with the schedule, we will have 2 rookies, Eaton, Streit, Staios and Mottau (concussion).
That is almost an AHL Defense.
I am rooting for them but it will be real TOUGH!!! They are hockey players so it comes with the territory, I guess.

Got to think there is really no shot of him being dealt.
