Lupul has axe to grind with Ducks

http://www.torontosun.com/2011/11/26...ind-with-ducks

Quote:
To say Lupul has zero feeling of bitterness toward the Ducks would be wrong. He had serious back trouble when he was with the Ducks the past two seasons, and remains perturbed the Ducks traded him not long after he returned to the lineup a year ago.

Does he have a chip on his shoulder?

“A little bit,” Lupul, who was drafted seventh overall by the Ducks in 2002, said. “I think I let it be known last year I was not happy with how quickly I was let go after coming back from an injury. Now that I think about it, that’s the way things go. They thought they had guys in the room who could do a better job than I did, and the move has turned out great for me.”

Though it may have washed away somewhat, there remains some resentment toward Ducks coach Randy Carlyle.

“I know the opportunity I’m getting in Toronto, I never would have had in Anaheim,” Lupul said. “Randy Carlyle just did not see me as that type of player.”

The opportunity includes an integral role on the top line and first-unit power-play minutes.

“If we erred, we probably erred in that we did not play him consistently enough at left wing,” Carlyle said. “He loves the left side.

“Players make comments, and it’s not up to the coaches or management to throw any dirt. He was a good soldier here. I don’t have any comments on his negative comments.”

He always played on the right, I guess because that's where he was needed to be.

regardless i dont think anyone would have believed this guy can become a power forward esque player for us...i think it was last game he had 5 hits and an assist. I certainly I was hard on him regarding that.

I really hope he shows that cold bloodedness against the ducks like he did against dallas.

You could see the second he got an uncalled highstick from souray he was really pissed, he responded with a solid OT and the shootout winner.

CLUTCH

Hopefully someone high sticks him but does not injure him like last game, we're guaranteed to see results then

I knew Lupul had potential to be a good player if he was healthy. You could see it last year that he had the tools or at least the chemistry to play with Kessel. To be on pace for almost 100 points a quarter of the way through is still beyond what I expected. I thought he would be a 30g4xa guy playing with Kessel for 82 games. Let's hope he keeps this up. He is a really fun player to watch!

Novemeber is almost over and Lupul is either leading or amongst the leaders in points. Any chance he wins the NHL player of the month for November?

Getting a win tonight is huge for this team. So many injuries and being able to go 3-1-0 on this road trip leading into a game with the evil bruins at the ACC will have them feeling good! And you know they will be motivated against the Bruins.. injuries or no injuries they won't want to be embarrassed again! You can't underestimate this Ducks team though. And struggling teams always seem to get a jump in their step when playing the Leafs.

Sorry if I went a little off topic there. I hope Lupul shows the ducks what they missed out on tonight!!

GO LEAFS GO

proabaly not cause usually, not always but most times when Lupul scores a point Kessel gets a point as well since they play together on the #1 line.

Hopefully he gets on the board a couple of times. He's making my "bold prediction" of the season look pretty likely.

Better a player be upset than the alternative, think about it, anyone want a player that is happy when a team gives up on you?

Updated Leafs stats since joining the Leafs.

Solid soldier indeed.
