Miller wants out?

This might be a stretch, but for some reason, with the wife in LA and the mental makeup of Ryan along with the media BS - I don't see it as far fetched.

Quote:
We keep hearing that Buffalo Sabres goalie Ryan Miller is out with a concussion and wouldn’t mind if the Sabres traded him. His wife is a California-based actress, but the Los Angeles Kings have Jonathan Quick between the pipes. The Anaheim Ducks have Jonas Hiller as their starter and the San Jose Sharks seem happy with Antti Niemi in net. Buffalo needs a high-end centre, but they have holes elsewhere, too. I don’t see a market in California for Miller, whose game has dropped off after his 2010 Olympics heroics in Vancouver.

Meh... sounds like the writers personal opinion ...rather than Ryans opinion.

This is the same writer who first mentioned anything about Pegula buying the team. Probably worth mentioning.

Even if it was true (which I don't think) what could we really get for Miller? People act like we could get a stud centre, but goalies don't really give that great of a return these days.

Same hearsay we've been hearing for the last two years.

"Hey, Miller's girl is in California - therefore he wants to be traded there!"

If he keeps hearing that Miller wouldn't mind being traded, that does disturb me. Especially since this guy has called things before.

Seems he's hinting at Denver or Phoenix as a non-California SW destination. Eh, it's possible.

I hope Sullivan asks him about it so that we can have an encore to the time when he intimated that Miller wanted to play in Detroit.

Denver's already laid their bed with Varlamov - not likely.

But can we get them to trade another Top 5 pick, I'll take it.

Yep, I wouldn't say it's likely but I wouldn't say extremely unlikely either. Cue the Miller for Stastny threads on the trade boards even though they just gave up a ton for Varlamov.

Or perhaps Miller for Varlamov. *shrug* I dont see much of a fit for anyone at the moment. Smith has been dynamite many nights for the Yotes, the Cali teams are all sown up. Denver - Varlamov.

I suppose it's possible, with the Avs being my second favorite team I just can't see them giving up on him, if anything the organization gives a guy too long to prove his worth, Varlamov will get a chance for the next couple years. I can already see someone posting Eklund rumors of a Ducks-Sabres blockbuster in the immediate future.

That's the thing. Which team needs a goalie and is willing to take on his salary? The only one I can think of is Columbus and they might be hesitant to pull the trigger because of his recent injury and the amount of money he is getting paid. If Miller truly wants to play for a California team he can keep on dreaming. All 3 of those teams are set when it comes to goaltending.

Wouldn't mind a Bobby Ryan, Jonas Hiller combo coming our way. Double the Jonas!

I've been hearing "sabres showing interest" in Bobby Ryan on Twitter for the last few days already...

Would love Bobby Ryan .. just wouldn't want to lose Miller for him tho.

I doubt the yotes are even close to a possibility, with their budget and the chance to move any minute. (not that I want them to move nor to I care about moving any team in the league)

I heard he wants to come to austria and play for my hometown team.

The Yotes can't take that salary without almost a dollar-for-dollar deal, and Maloney isn't giving up the pieces Regier would command--likely some combo of OEL, Turris, Boedker, and Hanzal. And Darcy is far too risk averse to trade Miller for a guy who was actively shopping his wares in his native Russia because, in part, he wasn't getting enough playing time--who's to say Varly wouldn't do the same if he can't beat out Enroth?

Miller wouldn't get that much, unfortunately. Hiller is a top 10 goalie, usually, and Bobby Ryan is a stud.

not only that, but Smith has been a beast for them in goal and at a 1/3 of the price of what Miller is making.

If you want that package, you better be putting Roy on the table, too. Which would beg the question of whether we are just swearing off the center position altogether.

This is going to spawn a lot of stupid proposals on the trade boards. By Tuesday people are going to have this spun into Miller making Hasek-like trade demands.
