Pavelec gets 5 years, 3.9 million per.

Anybody else upset that we traded for Lindback instead of going to FA?

Martin Brodeur has hired an agent for the first time since dinosaurs roamed the earth and said he will test FA if NJ doesn't get a deal done by Sunday.

This is really shaping up to be the weirdest offseason.

Phoenix will sign Broduer and NJ will sign Doan.

Could we sign him to train up young Lindback in the ways of the goaltender? And then to become the full-time goalie coach post-retirement in time for Vasilevski to enter the picture?

Never mind that we currently have ALL THE GOALIES.

$7.54M AAV for Parise...That higher than Stamkos ffs. Pray they do something about these salaries before we have to deal with Stamkos as a UFA. There is no way anyone on this planet can argue that Parise is worth that kind of money.

Stamkos was a RFA though. Once he hits UFA he's gonna get a blank check.

I do think the Parise contract was a bit much. If it's gonna be that long of a term, I'd rather it be under 7mil caphit for him.

Oh I know RFA v UFA. Still don't think Parise is worth north of 6.5m / yr. Suter most certainly isn't worth $7.54m.

Stamkos will command sums north of "Crosby Money" in 4years. (if he stays healthy *knocks on wood*)

Lets just enjoy these 4 years. Lol

As of now, his contract is a bargain. 60 goals for a cap hit just over 6? Me gusta.

Former Lightning captain Dave Andreychuk was named Wednesday to the roster of Maple Leafs alumni scheduled to play Red Wings alumni in two games that will precede next season's Winter Classic between Toronto and Detroit. Andreychuk played with the Leafs from 1993-96. The alumni games are Dec. 31 and the outdoor game Jan. 1, all at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. Detroit general manager Ken Holland told the Associated Press he would reach out to other Wings alumni, Yzerman, about playing.

So the NHL has fired their opening salvo in the CBA negotiations. As tweeted by Renaud Lavoie, some of the points:

Reducing the player share of revenue from 57% to 46%. 5year ELC's. Getting rid of arbitration rights. Maximum contract lengths of 5 years.

I know you start high in negotiations, but I'm glad the Solar Bears are back. Could very well be the only hockey we see for awhile.

No, it's that the players are perpetually going to get less and less until the next nuclear war.

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Martin St. Louis did not need to attend the 2012 NHL Awards Show in Las Vegas last month in order to bring home some hardware this summer.

Rather, St. Louis returned to his alma mater at the University of Vermont on Monday to receive his school’s Alumni Achievement Award, which since 1985 has been given to individuals deemed to show “outstanding achievement that has been recognized at the local, state and or national level.”

It also means open season on Philly RFAs.

14 years is also ****ing ridiculous. I bet Snider is lobbying for a maximum contract length of 5 years. No grandfather clause.
